That he does. But people making comparisons to Toews is just silly at this point.

Silly in that it is wildly premature for sure. Horvat still has lots of developing to do (and plenty of time to do it) before such comparisons have any validity. But I don't feel it is an _unrealistic_ projection or something that Horvat could never achieve - he is tracking well so far - but just too early in his development to be throwing such lofty comparisons around. He has a shot at being that type of player, but is far from a sure thing.

Jonathan Toews is the absolute high end upside for Horvat, whereas a guy like Mike Fisher is the low end upside. Odds are he falls somewhere in between, but the potential to go either direction is there.

Toews is not a comparable, at this point a guy like ROR is comparable for this player. But Toews' level of game is certainly within range given the progression of Horvat's offensive game over the past year.

Another goal and an assist for him today. He now sits 14th in OHL scoring.

Gonna be more reserved when following a prospect. I still remember the Cody Hodgson Fiasco... what a total waste of time following him for 3+ years.

Hahaha are you serious ? It sucks watching great jr hockey and it sucks watchings bonus players like duchene in jr pre draft because of the likes of Cody hodgson. Might I add watching Ebrele in the wjc ruined my Xmas. If it doesn't help my team it's terrible :shakehead

Bo is a great player such as Domi Maatta Zadorov And glad I get to see Marner. Watching jr hockey is great you see great talent before they compete against your team Boo frickin hoo when it doesn't work out ( ps I'm a nucks fan )

Looked good doing it too.

Not flashy, but so effective.

Yeah, I love his game. He ha some serious offensive skills but they get over shadowed a bit by his bull dog style. Just relentless. Hard on the puck in all areas with soft hands. I've never been this excited about a Canucks prospect before.

Im stoked to see how he does at the big stage at the WJC and what role he is put in because he can play so many different roles.

The guy will captain the canucks in 5 years, He is the total package

I'd expect Kesler and (probably) the Sedins to still be playing in five years, so... No. The way Tanev is developing (stature-wise, not necessarily in skill) I could see him taking up the mantle as well.

Not saying Bo won't be Captain, I'm just saying... five years is a bit early.

Yeah, how about people not go overboard and hand this guy the captaincy before he's played an NHL game. Good Lord, he might the best prospect we've had since the Sedins (Hodgson could be argued), but he's still just a prospect. Calm down.

Is Reid Boucher anywhere near as good as Horvat or is Horvat projecting to have a much better career?

When I compare prospects at different ages I find the most fair evaluation, in many cases, is to compare the older player's season at the younger players age. In Boucher's year after being drafted he put up 50 points in 67 games in the OHL, Horvat after being drafted is on pace this season to put up 105 points in 67 games. While this method isn't perfect, and stats aren't everything, and development curves can be different for everyone, this extreme example helps indicate that you aren't looking at two players who are very comparable at all.

I highly doubt Tanev ever gets a letter.

Bo Horvat does it all, he has the highest PPG pace than any OHL player from the 2013 draft, plays the toughest minutes, is a +17, and is a former playoff MVP.

This kid is going to be a beast in the NHL and a future captain.

I was hoping the Habs would trade up for Horvat, I had him 7th last year and think he will turn into a Ryan O'reilly, Patrice Bergeron type player but with a higher ceiling offensively. Great great trade by the Nucks...

Tough player to compare.

Boucher probably has the edge in goal-scoring, but I'd say there's a significant gap in everything else in Horvat's favor.

I agree. Admittedly, I dont know a ton about Boucher other than the obvious which has already been stated, but Horvat also has a significant size advantage over Boucher.

Big difference is Bo's family seem like very nice people. Just like certain members of the Shinkaruk family.

Cough, cough.
