Concerned no.... He's doing everything right. Bo's the type of player he could have half the points but still be dominating games because of his smarts.

When you get concerned with his game is when he's losing faceoffs and not paying attention to his own end or playing the full 200ft game he's so good at.

But just to be clear, so far Horvat is NOT doing these negative things, right?

What do you Knights fans think of Miles Liberati?

I know this is a Bo Horvat thread but something tells me a Miles Liberati thread isn't justified.

The only concern he ever had with Bo was his footspeed. He has clearly worked on that over the summer and is no longer a problem. Has truly become an elite player at the OHL level and has totally validated Vancouver choosing him at 9th overall.

I thought he was elite with what he did in the playoffs last year. Thought he was good before, but he stepped it up tenfold when it mattered most.

Mark Seidel of NACS deserves a shout out, he had Bo at 6 the entire year even when it raised eyebrows at christmas time last year.

Is there no captain in London this year? I can't find anything on their website but I thought Bo would be given the C for sure

From what I see they have three "A's" on C. Tierney, B. Welychka, and D. Mermis...at least for todays game.

They are having trouble finding one... and waiting for someone to step up. This coaching staff doesn't have a clue what's going on right now. IMO if the kid that put the team on his back in the playoffs and brought the to the Memorial Cup isn't the right choice on and off the ice then well...

Has Horvat shown any progression in any particular area from last year or is it far too early to say?

Physical traits such as his skating, puck handling, shot and strength?

Any red flags about his game when talking about his hockey sense, work ethic and attitude? The Knights board have talked about the veterans on the team being an issue and was wondering if this applies to Horvat.

Would you say he's got a great chance at making the Canadian WJ team?

Horvat is still being used the primary shut down but now has developed his offensive game far more than anyone expected. In my opinion he should be in the AHL now but can't.

Yes. Horvat's puckhandling has never been an issue. The red flags are for a few others not Bo.

And yes.

I had Horvat right in the same category as Monahan. It would have been a tough choice for me between Lindholm and Horvat quite honestly. His offensive game was very apparent and no player in the world showed as much progression over the last year or so.

Going to London @ Kingston tomorrow. Should be exciting, he's leading the team in points in less games than his teammates (Other than Domi, who just hasn't been scoring as much?).

Glad to see Horvat doing well. I hope he can keep it up and overcome last seasons stats. I think I am gonna watch the London game tmrw. But then Shinkaruk in Vancouver.

Domi is playing with Tierny and marner now and they have been very dangerous since being put together, marner seems to bring out the best of max. Bo has been good, probably the most concistent player for the knights

Game was great.

Horvat with a sweet assist less than a minute in, played well in the first period. Kingston scored during a power play while he was on, not really his fault.

Second period the Knights took a lot of penalties, so he played lots of minutes on the PK, not a lot of offense.

Third period he was on the ice for another goal against, as well as London's empty netter.

Overall I think he played a very good positional game, created a few chances off of smart plays. However, at times he looked a bit lazy, though that may just have been effects of tiredness (was in the second near the end of a PK). Overall I think he plays a very good defensive game, but people that aren't watching for him might not notice him if he doesn't put up points. He wasn't terribly flashy, but always made the safe play.

Also could see Domi's skill whenever he had the puck, but he didn't get any points last night.

Do any of you who actually watch and follow him think he has ROR upside?

That would be unreal.

Happy to see the way he is playing. Gets 3 assists and was outstanding tonight from what I heard.

Looks like he is on route for a career high in the OHL.

In his last 82 games Horvat is 50-51-101 while playing tough shutdown minutes. He scores clutch goals, controls the tempo of the game, takes all the big face offs, shuts down the other team's top line, won playoff MVP, and is putting up well over PPG numbers in his second and third OHL season. And despite solid production his offensive game is still trending upwards as he has begins to tap into underrated playmaking ability to pick up assists to go along other all the goals.

This guy is absolutely dominant. I think his game will garner a lot of attention at WJC and showcase to the hockey world how special a player he is.

People keep throwing around names like "O'Reilly" and "Bergeron" as comparable, both of which are exceptional players that I'm sure Horvat would be proud to aspire to. But in my opinion I honestly believe a name like "Toews" needs to be added to that list in terms of upside.

No, definitely not until we see him in the NHL imo. If he wasn't compared to a player of that calibre at the draft, he shouldn't be until we see him at least a bit in the NHL.

I'm buying into the O'reilly comparisons, but Bo has better hands I like his skating a bit better too.

I'd stick with the 'better O'reilly' type comparison we've been thinking

Thats impressive. The best part is it shows that he is continuing to improve all the time.

Edit: Also 3 more points for Bo last night (1g 2a) including the primary assist on the OT goal.
