People here were saying he’s as good as Michkov.

Michkov is PPG player in the KHL this year.

Nothing is proven yet, but Fantilli probably needs to score 40-50 for that to be remotely considered plausible. If he scores 25 points, I don’t know why only Reinbacher gets hate for his team passing on Michkov. Same stuff should apply for Fantilli and Carlsson.
Well, ignoring all the ridiculous stuff in this post, I’ll just make it simple

Michkov did not want to play in Columbus. He did not meet with the team per his own wishes. So it became a pretty simple situation.

You sir, win the worst comment of the day of HF, comparing the KHL to NHL. Pretty sure Mitchkov ain't making the NHL this year at all, and ain't getting 25 points for the year that's for sure. Did you forget he had to be traded to even play in the KHL?

Why are we talking about Michkov in here anyway. Fantilis been solid and finally rewarded tonight. Let’s talk about him.

No one cares about some KHL scoring numbers that league is dog shit now.
If I was a fan of the team that drafted Michkov Id be excited as anyone would. That said, pretending like a kid figuring out the NHL game as rookie a handful of games in is a disappointment while the guy outside the best league in the world is doing better is a fun take. I really enjoy that Fantilli scored after that type of post was made here

I wouldn't even say he's been a disappointment he just hasn't had any lucky bounces. He's looked good and the dam has finally broken, hopefully this is just the first of many.

Sure. It’s fine to be happy about it in the michkov thread.

Fellow wolverine alum Beniers I thought would be a solid benchmark and decent goal for him to hit points wise

Not going to have the complete game beniers did

But that is a good milestone to aim for

Okay. Michkov has 0 games and 0 results. There's your comparison.

Not everyone thinks his game is going to seamlessly translate to the NHL, he isn't even playing yet for a real team like SKA that has structure and needs results.
Who are the people who don’t think his game will translate seamlessly? You and Habs fans?

And how is SKA a real team when they are lower in the standings than Sochi?
Why does it matter where a freshly drafted player lines up on the draw?

What matters is attributes, not position. A tiny winger who sucks at defense is going to be worth a lot less.
I think a team should take the best player in that spot, but is it not true that Michkov wasn’t considered because he wasn’t a center?

I also don’t agree he sucks at defense and will in the NHL. It’s not a big strength and he’s far from bad, and with his hockey sense he can make it a huge strength. Not everything with defense is about size and physicality. Marner is one of the best defensive forwards in the league.

I’d argue you have the worst comment.

A. You couldn’t take 2 seconds to google how to spell his name.

B. I didn’t compare the NHL and KHL.

C. If Fantilli isn’t a better player on his ELC or career, why would it matter who has more points in the NHL this year? It’s not like a team picking 3rd is making the playoffs the next year. You take the player who will be the best going forward. And the only reason why Michkov won’t have 25 is because he can’t have any.

Yes, the Jackets were either going to take Fantilli or Smith at 3. They wanted a center.

Michkov did not want to go to Columbus. He cancelled their pre draft meeting (even if it was just a formality) with us. It seems pretty mutual. Michkov was never in play for Columbus and Columbus was never in play for Michkov. This is a total nothingburger issue that you've brought in here.

My boy? I’m not a fan of either team. Michkov was literally considered the best prospect out of Russia since Ovechkin and Malkin, and then some decided he was actually like the 4th or 5th, let alone 7th, best player.

Should we not track how players do compared to each other? And why wouldn’t you care yourself as the fan of a team that passed up Michkov?

I thought there was this big campaign that your team needed a center, so that meant you couldn’t draft Michkov, yet Fantilli isn’t even playing center all the time. I would be skeptical of this with my management.

Could Fantilli prove that he is better than Michkov? Yes, but the dude wasn’t drafted 100th. If you are drafted where he was and ahead of someone like Michkov, there will be attention and pressure.
What a strange post. I don’t follow the Jackets but they got a high end player to build around. Whether he’s playing the middle yet is irrelevant. Maybe they want to start him on the wall considering they just switched gears with coaches. That’s what their coaches want to do? That’s their prerogative. I think they may know a bit more than yourself. He’s absolutely a centre. He’s a great kid - watch the draft with how excited he was watching his buddies getting picked. A good Canadian kid. If i had a gun to my head I pick him ahead of Leo and I like Leo also.

I’d take Fantilli over Beniers all day and I love Matty.

You should probably watch the games?

Fantilli has been very promising in his start, with again having multiple scoring chances in yesterdays game.

With his speed, shot& size he’s build for todays league and will be a beauty in his prime.

NHL& KHL are 2 completely different leagues, you can’t compare the 2 in any way.
Even McDavid didn’t come into the NHL dominating from the gates.

Fantilli got drafted because of the season he just had and because of what he can be in his prime.

If he hits his ceiling he’s a 3 zone top5 C in the game and you don’t trade those players for anyone, especially 1 dimensional wingers

Really? That’s impressive! Weird that he didn’t even get one of the 3 stars then.

1G, 4 shots, -2, 17 min TOI.

Game was in Minnesota
