I saw a lot of people expecting like a 70 point season or something. I'm not sure people realize how difficult it is to score 70 on your d+1 in the NHL. For context Matthews had 69. Not sure who's been the closest before that. Mcdavid was a ppg but got hurt.
Also McDavid was below ppg at the time he got hurt.

Your analysis of Bedard game was really suspect in the Bedard thread, people know a bad take and an agenda when they see it.

George Leafer seems to have one as well.

Bedard gas been the best Black Hawk player and is driving play out there and creating chances, just because he doesn't have 6 goals in 2 games doesn't mean that he isn't having an extremely good impact here and it will get better as he acclimatizes to the league.

Soderblom has been the most impactful player easily in the two games he played.
You can argue between Bedard and Jones from there.

The rest of the team is shit. He better look like the best player.

Soderblom was "shit" against Boston & Toronto??? Care to tell me what your watching?

I wrote that before the Leafs game and Jones had a huge night but among forwards Bedard is the Black Hawk driving play.

That being said he is still a rookie fresh out of the draft and not a finished product but I think he ends up at over a PPG still.

What a train wreck of a thread. I liked the kid at the WJC and the few highlights i watched online. You can’t teach size and speed and he’s got a bit of grit to him. I think CBus got a beauty. It’s a hard league. He will be a damn good player- got all the attributes. Looks like a bigger, better, faster Horvat/Dubois. Got top 10 centre written all over him.

LOL at the clowns already crapping on him. If he’s slow out of the gate, loan him to TC.

You know how when Fantilli was constantly being asked about Bedard before the draft instead of being asked about himself and everyone kinda felt bad for him? A lot of this thread feels like a continuation of that.

Let Fantilli have his own thread. Kid doesn't deserve to have every conversation about him end up being about the kid picked two spots higher.

Fantilli looks great to me. Unreasonable to expect him to walk right in and put up 70+ points. Not many 1st overalls do that, let alone a 3rd overall. Just unfair expectations to place on him.

He certainly looks like a player to me that will have no issues being a star player in this league in the near future.

It doesn't matter how Bedard plays today or what his future looks like. I don't forsee Columbus ever complaining about what they get out of this kid.

How is the Fantilli/Laine chemistry after 3 games? It's sort of odd that they're putting Fantilli at LW and Laine at C but whatever.

100%. Generally you have to win the lottery to get players as good as Adam.

If Fantilli was on a team that had good offensive zone time and put him on the halfwall of the #1PP unit, then he could score 70 points this year. His pace is a problem for defenders and his shot is a problem for goalies, it's either going in or making a big rebound.

So far the Blue Jackets are in the offensive zone about 5% of the time so it is a little early to talk about chemistry. They have to learn a transition game first. New players, New coach.

I think at this point his biggest hurdle is acting like he belongs. Bit tentative at times but when he gets back to just simply playing hockey again he'll take off. Big jump from College to the NHL but hes already showing improvement a couple games in. Exciting times ahead

I’m looking at him realistically, as a just drafted player playing in his very 1st NHL games.

In every games he’s shown you glimpses offensively and moments where you think he’s going to be a beauty.

His skating& speed is just what the doctor orders for todays NHL.

Nobody should crap on him.

He’s been a bright spot for Columbus, easily belongs to the league

Fantilli back to center with Laine out. I think it can be good for him short term. I think they are a good combo but with Fantilli looking for his 1st and Laine looking for 200 it just felt a bit forced from time to time. Laine to Fantilli especially, just need to get these milestones out of the way and just play naturally

People here were saying he’s as good as Michkov.

Michkov is PPG player in the KHL this year.

Nothing is proven yet, but Fantilli probably needs to score 40-50 for that to be remotely considered plausible. If he scores 25 points, I don’t know why only Reinbacher gets hate for his team passing on Michkov. Same stuff should apply for Fantilli and Carlsson.

Neato. There is more to hockey than just points and there is also a difference between 2 rookies breaking into the NHL vs a guy entering his 2nd year in the KHL. Glad your boy is doing well but I dont think you are going to find fans from these 2 fanbases jumping on your bandwagon a couple games into their NHL careers

My boy? I’m not a fan of either team. Michkov was literally considered the best prospect out of Russia since Ovechkin and Malkin, and then some decided he was actually like the 4th or 5th, let alone 7th, best player.

Should we not track how players do compared to each other? And why wouldn’t you care yourself as the fan of a team that passed up Michkov?

I thought there was this big campaign that your team needed a center, so that meant you couldn’t draft Michkov, yet Fantilli isn’t even playing center all the time. I would be skeptical of this with my management.

Could Fantilli prove that he is better than Michkov? Yes, but the dude wasn’t drafted 100th. If you are drafted where he was and ahead of someone like Michkov, there will be attention and pressure.

Because Fantilli is 4 games into his NHL career and Michkov is 0. I said it before the draft that I dont really care if Michkov scores 20 more points or whatever number a season as Fantilli/Carlsson have huge 2 way upside. Fantilli also has a physical edge and as he matures physically and mentally is going to be a menace. Michkov would also add to a group of small wingers and yet again puts Columbus in a position of looking for the 1C they have never truely found. So no, Im not too concerned about what Michkov does. I dont doubt Michkov will be good for Philly and I dont dount Fantilli will be good for Columbus.

Fantilli not playing center (he is tonight) is a whole lot of nothing. Babcock and Vincent wanted to go with a 2 center Idea and while we dont really have the horses for it the Fantilli/Laine pair stuck. Longterm they wont stay together but if having Fantilli on his line helps Laine figure out the position then suddenly the center position looks a lot better. Jumping to way too many conclusions less than 2 weeks into the NHL season

Okay. Michkov has 0 games and 0 results. There's your comparison.

Not everyone thinks his game is going to seamlessly translate to the NHL, he isn't even playing yet for a real team like SKA that has structure and needs results.

Why does it matter where a freshly drafted player lines up on the draw?

What matters is attributes, not position. A tiny winger who sucks at defense is going to be worth a lot less.

Getting insanely close to goal 1. Trickled a shot through Gustavsson that just slid wide and then on the same shift hit the post. Feels like its gonna be a situation where after the 1st one goes in multiple will follow
