For me they(Fantilli and Carlsson) are absolutely on the same tier - 2nd after Bedard.
But they have fundamental difference in term of their style and things they can bring to team.
Fantilli is a goal scoring centerman, who probably will have more goals than assasts (at least 50/50). Leo will be pass-first type of player, 30+60 guy.
Which of them you should choice based just on current team needs.
If you need the Matthews-type your choice is Fantilli. If you need Backstrom with higher goal scoring abilities you should take Leo.
For me Adam is 2nd OA. But it based only on personal preferences and it doesn`t mean I rank Leo lower

I wouldn't put a potential 50g C on the same tier as a pass first C. Goal scoring Cs are unicorns, impossible to pass that up.

I don’t think unicorn is nearly the right term. Of the 38 players to hit 35 or more goals this year, 16 were centers. This isn’t the old days, there’s lots of goal scoring centers now.

...and just because a center has a rep as a playmaking center doesn't mean they can't add goalscoring to their arsenal. McDavid and Crosby are two prominent examples of that.

It feels like fate that he becomes a Duck because Paul Kariya was also a Canadian who won the Hobey Baker as a rookie.

Teams wanting to trade up to #2 are doing it for Fantilli cause he has the highest odds of going #2.
I'll take it one step further on the topic of fate, how about that hes a projected first line center, big frame, has the potential to be a franchise player ...last time we drafted in Nashville i remember picking a guy that did same thing...

Woah forgot that 2003 draft was also in Nashville.
Need to move some 2nds to get a late first to get another Perry lol.

Yeah for us we have two forwards who like to pass, pass, pass and pass(Zegras, Terry) and only one guy on the roster with an elite shot (McTavish). The only forward that is a speedster on the team is Lundestrom and he's not great offensively. Fantilli gives the Ducks another shooter and a top6 forward that has elite speed.

You obviously try to draft BPA, but Fantilli is perfect for the Ducks and Carlsson is perfect for the Blue Jackets.

Except for the fact that Carlsson is a much closer comp to Getzlaf than Fantilli.

He's got a great shot and skates well, but he doesn't get around the net enough for me to score that volume of goals in the NHL.
I'd much rather worry about working on that and already coming in at 18 years old with above average NHL speed and release.

I don't know about that. Prime Jeff Carter was a goal scoring C and prime Nicklas Backstrom was a playmaking C. I would take Backstrom 10x out of 10.

That said, Carlsson is my second favorite player in the draft, but I think the Ducks would be crazy to pass on Fantilli for him, unless they absolutely believe Carlsson is, and will be, a far better player. There's too much risk there to be wrong.
