2010-2020 first round streak is over feels bad man. Back to dead prospect era. Manner needs to be hanged from testicles couldnt make Räty, Tuomaala or Koivunen first rounder. And Where was Jokke when we needed him should have told GM to take Räty at 27 not move down:sarcasm:.

Räty wasn't close to a 1st round selection this year. I don't get how you people think he's some great prospect who has been betrayed in every turn.

He didn't prove anything to me in either of his latest years and I fully expected him to fall out of the 1st.

He was out of lineup a lot in his junior team too, so there must've been plenty of health issues in the background.

A player who was projected to go 1-5, for years. Doesn't even get drafted in the 1st round....scouts and GM's are ****** idiots!!!.

I'll be laughing my ass off when/if he becomes someone like Sebastian Aho.

This has happened so many times in the past and the reason why you don't remember is because those players never amounted to anything. Nick Ebert, Sean Day, Kirill Kabanov...these were all players regarded as top talent at one point and then fell down the draft rankings, some in spectacular fashion. Not a single NHL game played amongst them.

Why? Nobody predicted Aho would be this good, who knows, maybe Räty is going to have a similar developement curve as well.

Pretty much this.
Of course you would pick Aho in top-5 in a redraft, but nobody saw him being that good at draft.
Nobody knows how Räty will look like in 3 years. Nobody.

'member when the Finnish delegation was touting this kid as "better than (Jack) Hughes" and a likely top-2 pick this year?

Anyway - if the Devils had a pick in the 2nd I would've liked them to be in on this guy. Seems like a low-risk high-reward type gamble with a 2nd round pick.

.
No. I cannot remember this. I do remember when TSN interviewed him like two years ago about how it feels to be the projected #1 pick. Those stupid Finnish TSN journalists. Smh.

Why would Räty have a similar development curve?
Just because he's going to probably be a 2nd round pick? Look. There's nothing similar about Räty and Aho so far.

Lambert oozes skill but physically he's still super raw and he seems a bit arrogant, which he can grow out of, but it's not a great quality imo. A bit of a disappointing D -1 year.
He does ooze that top pick skill, his decision making is what has made him fall for me ever since the WJC's.

Get over it, we had a downyear when it comes to developing prospects and will be like that for maybe one more year, only top prospect we have next year as far as i know is Lambert and even he has fallen abit in my books, he was touted as the 2nd OA pick but now i see him as top 5-7.

I would be surprised if Lambert doesn't end up second next year. I think he has a pretty big lead at that spot. I know some of you Finn's are down on him, but I don't think his draft stock has dropped, unless someone was expecting him to compete with Wright for 1OA.

So this guy is a boom bust i gather ?

I don't think he's boom-bust. More of a controversial player because he was a big faller in the draft.

I think it's a pretty good pick. I don't disagree with him dropping pretty substantially with the season he had, but outside the first round? I think thats way too much of an overreaction. Raty in the second round is a great pick.
