Why would Räty have a similar development curve?
Just because he's going to probably be a 2nd round pick? Look. There's nothing similar about Räty and Aho so far.

They have something common being from same system, same playing position(s), and draft

At the time of Aho's draft he was sent to Ässät and despite it, was contributing to Kärpät way more than Räty has done so far in his draft year. The system was lead by Marjamäki then. Aho wasn't projected as a high pick who fell from grace, that's Räty. Their career paths have been the inverse of each other from their D-1 and D-years on so far.

Räty played for Manner, and after initially getting the bench treatment, he was a regular on the roster. He only totaled 6 points after 35 games. Aho wasn't good enough for the roster in 14-15 and straight up dominated the league at times in 15-16. IF that happens to Räty as well, then I might get the slight comparisons to Aho.
But in 14-15 Aho wasn't even playing center, he was playing wing and only in the coming season switched to playing C.

There's nothing to compare them as. The system isn't the same, the playing position wasn't the same, and Räty's draft position was in "danger" of falling to the 3rd round.

Don't expect an Aho out of him. You're set if you do that.

After years of Strome, Reinhart, Dal Colle I have zero expectations for prospects. If it turns out well, that's nice.

Isles always take the player who drops, there is a reason why all the GMs passed on a player who was at one time, top 10 talent, some GMs twice.

His skating is below average imo, and he has a tunnel vision when carrying the puck, but he is a talented off the puck, and good insticts paired with a good shot and not afraid to go to the dirty areas, also pretty good two-way player already.

Potential huge steal of draft if NYI gets him to mature as a player.
Considering the overall history of the islanders, that could be there in mind. Raty is only bad when he's skating, but overall as a player, there really haven't been many bad flaws aside from that. The absolute best thing he said was knowing he had a poor 2020-21 campaign, and can be so much better. Ironically i got the exact same feelings when Kumar Rocker fell down to the Mets, all because of an iffy 2021 campaign he had.
