Gauthier had more individual xGF than the whole Sabres team lol (adjusted for score)

Zib made a great pass, I don't dispute that, but he was too high on the play while Kreider and Goodrow were mucking on the end wall. Kreider's pass wasn't going to get to Zib had Fox not provided the extra bridge play there.
Zib was tightly covered by Olofsson until Fox pinched. There was no way Mika could do anything of value without Fox on that play. Especially with Mika staring at Kreider and Goodrow fight 3 Sabres with 6 seconds left.

They destroyed Buffalo on every metric other than the scoreboard. What does this team have to do for people to not complain? Like even just the shots were 35-22 (or 36-22 depending on where you check).

I don't what game that guy was watching but they were the better team for 45 minutes and totally dominated the 3rd. If we had an NHL goaltender start the game it would not have been close.

Fox on that play reminds me of the Jeter play
Had no business being there but their gut guided them to where they had to be to make the play
That was not a hockey play, that was the work of genius; hockey the medium.

I joke around a lot but I’m dead serious about this. When people describe the beauty of moves in chess, that is what they’re talking about.

Rangers played another great third period. Young guys were buzzing. Fun win overall.

I’m late to the party on this probably, but Gallant didn’t do them any favors tonight. Playing Geo, playing Tinordi over Lundkvist and consistently putting the third pair out on the ice after we scored all costed us.

The decision making from a guy who’s literal full time job is to think about this stuff is just unacceptable. I have been totally fine with Gallant this year, but he was a noticeable detriment tonight.

Looking at the play, it's all Fox, tbh. Zib was standing stationary and Olofsson was right next to him. Kreider moves the puck out of the scrum but it wasn't even going to Mika. It was going wide and Mika would've had to reach for it to his right. But Fox cuts in there to take the pass, Olofsson then has to go down to protect against a crossice feed to Lindgren who has cut in, Olofsson is down and out of the play for Mika to then feed Lindgren.

Both Fox and Lindgren make great decisions to move in deep with so little time left knowing they couldn't get hurt.

I agree playing Tinordi and Georgie was inexcusable but Gallant made really good ingame moves. Pulling Georgiev in the third was a huge wakeup call and while it seemed silly Dryden Hunt was great with mika and kreider.

We need another defenseman, Tinordi and Nils are not the guy. I can't blame Gallant here, he needs another option.

When we find out Mika is actually taking his wife’s last name:

Still don't understand why he started Georgiev but you are 100% correct about those in game moves. I think it's clear this team needs better options than Georgiev and Tinordi. They are both AHL quality.

made poor decision starting that headcase but had the guts to tell him to sit his ass down and put in one of the best goalies in hockey to finish the game.
I like it. He really put the pedal to the metal. Told the team ‘we’re not losing to these slobs’.
