Really all depends on how good Krebs is. Some kid from Okotoks that has 1 NHL point.

Wouldn't want to do the Tkachuk deal but surprised Calgary didn't beat this. Little underwhelming.

I was very wrong in thinking the trade would have lots of conditional picks.

I did think this was a pressure point though. The drop dead date basically, to having him back for playoffs

If the Knights become healthy during the regular season, I am curious to see how they clear out the needed cap space to become cap compliant. I don't think Dadonov would be that easy of a sell, personally. You need to likely move 2 of Marchessault, Smith, Pacioretty or Dadonov. I already made this point, but trading for Dadonov looks even dumber now than it did then.

My guess is that they probably do something like Smith for a 3rd and do another Janmark style trade with a super cheap rental, but that only saves them maybe $4 million at most. They still need to clear out the remainder of that money.

Here's what I said in post #86 of the "Vegas and Buffalo working on framework of Eichel trade" thread...

With Pacioretty and Tuch on the IR, Vegas has nearly 6 million in cap space, so now would be a good time to make it happen...

Krebs would almost certainly be involved, likely a 1st rd pick as well... maybe Tuch

To Vegas: Eichel

To Buffalo: L.V.'s 2022 1st, Krebs, Tuch, Dadonov

Dadonov was included to make the cap work, but once Stone went on the IR, Vegas was able to take on Eichel's salary without including him...

People saying Buffalo is screwed. Weve had Eichel for 6 years, weven basically finished bottom five to dead last, how much worse can it get? Hes a great player, talented, but lets admit it, hes been a problem in this organization. The elephant in the room has always been Jack and whether hes happy or not, we will fire coaches/ GMs anything to keep jack happy. Now they can get back to attempting to build a real team instead of stupid bandaids trying to keep Jack happy.
The Sabres aren't screwed because of this trade; they're just screwed. This trade is only the latest evidence.

I think Eichel, Pietrangelo and Stone is right on par with Point, Hedman and Kucherov. I'd give Tampa the overall advantage but it's really close.

Vasilevskiy is a big game changer though. Lehner's a good starter but Vasilevskiy is by far the best goalie in hockey.
stone is no kutch

Buffalo didn't get enough back, even considering the injury risk. However, I think it works out fine for them - Krebs is going to be very good.

That doesn't mean that the market should have been higher. They could have done a lot better if they had taken the highest bid in the summer.

I don't think Tuch and Krebs' collaborative point totals over the next two years will be more than what Eichel puts up next year.

So so tired of Vegas

Oops my bad. Hmm I guess I figured Vegas would insist on getting someone
That was the Amadio claim the other day apparently. Warm body that crossed their path at the right time, so they snagged him so they could play someone while trading out roster players and already dealing with a dearth of healthy forwards

Going by the speculation from Friday, before Karlsson got hurt, it seemed like it was Smith instead of Tuch in the proposal.

So Adams got an upgrade because of Karlsson being out 6 weeks.

Cap is used by the day. Unless he comes back in 3 months, Vegas will have enough space with 6+ million in unused LTIR so far.

That's not my understanding.

When the roster is playing and fully healthy they need to be under the cap with the exception that if other players are, at that same time still on LTIR then they can use that space.
You don't accrue anything ever.

I'm using a combination of Puckpedia: Long Term Injured Reserve (LTIR) - High Level Overview | Puckpedia
and the actual CBA: Collective Bargaining Agreement

Am I the only one who thinks that this is OK for both sides? Sabres get a top 6 wing with speed and size who has a reasonable contract, and a nice young Middle six C propsect that might play for them for the next 10 years. With all their injuries, VGK might have a pick in the mid late teens, which should net them a decent prospect. On top of that, Sabres net 5M in cap space. Don't think they'll use it right away, but next year that will give them the flexibility to sign a FA or two should they wish.

VGK is gambling on Eichel, which is fitting considering where they play. I think they will have to get creative getting cap space to fit in Eichel.
