Good interview. Changes my perspective a little on what Eichel went through. I think the big takeaway was his smirk when he was asked whether he thought the Pegula's made it personal.

Heck, call it an air craft carrier, because at his best he is. We've watched him win games alone, and the team disintegrate w/o him. There's really no need for us to diminish what we know he can be just to feel better about his trade. It's almost like some people are hoping he's damaged goods. I probably won't be a fan going forward, but I'd wish him the best as a person medically.
I wasn't trying to take anything away from what he can be, but the fact is he is injured right now and might never be that "aircraft carrier" again. I hope he does and personally wish him no ill.

It's absolutely mind boggling/infuriating that they took 6 months to "put together" a trade that half the internet proposed back in June. This shit is not that complicated and yet they act like they were planning the f***ing moon landing.

If the reports that Vegas refused to put Krebs in the offer until last week and Krebs being in the deal was a must for Adams, then go complain to GMBM about this dragging on from the Krebs POV.

Then you can complain if Adams really was holding fast to 6 (or even 4) 1st round level pieces 6 months ago and this deal was on the table and Adams wouldn't consider it.

there is one bright spot. Eichel may suck when he comes back. Until he plays about 30 games, we wont have a good idea of how is able to come back from this injury

Good luck to Buffalo.
Been key banks and HSBC arena( name change) couple of times and watched games, missing the Lindy Ruff era.
Once again, best wishes to Buffalo.

I wish I could read this. I really would like to know Okposo's thoughts.

Okposo said, “It was mixed emotions for me. I’ve become pretty close with Jack especially in the last three years, so that part of the business is never going to be easy, but I think it was time and there wasn’t going to be an amicable ending to this thing, so I’m happy for him on a personal level.”

We of course don’t get much of the information that somebody like Okposo would. He said, “I’ve been privy to more information than most people, but you always want it to work. He’s my friend, but I think it was pretty clear that things were deteriorating from a relationship standpoint and it probably wasn’t going to mend itself.”

Sabres have really treated Okposo top-notch. He also has seen the whole thing play out from draft to trade. He understands the business.

There is nothing worse from the Sabres perspective than someone who doesn't want to be here. That is one message that has been crystal clear coming out of the org. Eichel set that bridge on fire prior to 2020. The Sabres/Adams tried to salvage the situation as best the could, while still believing in their coach and their captain. It didn't work and they burned it to the ground.

This last paragraph is pure fantasy. Not only do you have no proof, but the thought that Adams would cave after all this time just because of Eichel giving interviews is mind-boggling.

Eh, I obviously don't think that it was the breaking point, but it seemed to be a factor in pushing this over the line. The fact the deal was announced within two hours of the interview happening isn't a coincidence. He was doing several interviews, and I'm sure he was going to talk about how the Sabres org was preventing him of getting treatment.

NRD and Merriman in their pod yesterday made mention that Jack is not bad in the locker room like some media report and this is a narrative the Pegula's have pushed. Maybe this was one thing that Jack was going to come out with if he was not traded by yesterday ?

Peter's disagrees of course.

Yes, I heard Peters take yesterday. There is a lot of distance between not being bad in the locker room and being a good leader. Of course, the Sabres created that problem, not Eichel.

I mean, in the end, I'll take Dea's thoughts on it over anyone's, since, you know, he was actually in the room. Even then though, he saw a very limited window of Eichel at the end of another disappointing season.

It's easy to be a leader in a good situation and hard to be a leader in a bad one. Eichel got nothing but bad situations and was shoved into leadership before he was ready for the role.

My favorite thing about this so far is Granato's "there's no saviors" line....and that's true. I think if we had that attitude about Eichel when he was drafted, things would have turned out differently.

A franchise center alone isn't enough, and we, as a franchise and a fanbase, went on for 10 years thinking that was all we needed.

This is not a bright spot. The only positive result to all of this is Eichel comes back and is fully healthy and lights the league on fire. He is just a kid and him not living up to his potential is a loss for everyone. This shouldn't be about winning a trade, this is about a talented player living up to the hype.

It's such trash. But I had to listen to it.

That might of been a good replacement name for The Instigators. I know they are a top 3 hockey podcast (with Cold Stove and 32 Thoughts) for just starting you have to give some them credit. If they get some funds coming in maybe they can afford a producer.

You don't think the C was part of the contract extension negotiation? That's usually how this goes. He was named Captain in Oct 2018. Less than two years later he was asking for a trade.
