The word is he’s not happy in NY. Islanders system doesn’t allow Barzal to really play his game. He’d get a big Avs bump and his production would probably sky rocket.
Also Barzal had 80 points in 80 games last year

These teams aren't trading their best forward unless it's for an upgrade. So unless you've got an upgrade for the Islanders or Blues you aren't getting their center.

There’s no realistic 2C options out there.
We really should just try Necas at center, but Bednar loves loading up his top line so it’s unlikely to happen. One of Necas’ frustrations in Carolina was not playing center. That’s his natural position.
Most teams would kill to have a 1-2 punch that just dominates the middle of the ice and drives play like MacK-Marty.
Put a Nuke or Lehky with him to do the heavy lifting defensively and let him focus on gaining speed up the middle and pushing the play up ice.
Trade Mittelstadt and something for a winger and a depth defenseman.

Been a fan of K’Andre for a long time. But not sure he is a fit as a lefty. If he was RH, I’d be all over that. Doubt he is available.

Sakic and Forsberg did fine playing apart a lot of the time. I agree, you got to try it. Unfortunately Bednar is trying to save his job right now.
If things get more comfortable going into the four nations maybe they try it after with Nuke back.

Damn, yet another player in Barzal who I thought was a natural center, but he plays wing in NY. Just like Necas who I also thought was a center. I can’t keep getting disappointed with this stuff.

They both are natural centers, but as we seen with Duchene sometimes it doesn't work that way.
Necas looks to me like he'd be fine at center though.

I wouldn’t mind Bednar trying Necas at center, but we could really use a 2C who is good defensively, or just not a liability.
