Damn.. Can't really complain. Very good job by Adams. I think Krebs becomes a 65-85 pt. player, Tuch a 55-75 pt. player. And the picks can be first liners for all we know. All cost controlled/ term. More depth, no 10 mil salary. This for an injured Eichel? I wouldn't normally say good deal to this package, but considering the unique circumstances with his neck, great deal and Sabres fans should be happy. I approve of Adams.

This is definitely Adams team now. The influx of talent next year will be noticeable with Power, Quinn, Peterka, Samuelsson, etc added to the mix. Adding Tuch and Krebs makes this team harder to play against. Both guys add size and aren’t afraid to go to the dirty areas. Sabres add 3 1st rd picks in a deep draft and restock the farm system.

In hindsight, the tank was the worst decision Sabres management under Pegula has made. I know I underestimated the long term effects of the losing culture it created.
Set them back years and years. You don't just trade every single player worth a damn and just magically bounce back from that. WGR basically spearheaded them tanking on purpose, then when they traded for an injured Kane, well Karma is a bitch.

Hopefully we are finally back on the right track.

I love this site regarding Jack, all we heard for months from other teams fans "oh Jack may never play again, his neck makes his value worthless" and now the trade happens and its "oh Vegas fleeced the Sabres".

HFboards - I'll give you one barely used bag of pucks for Eichel. Final offer.
HFboards after the trade, while still being much better than whatever most fans offered - LoLoLoOLl FLelEEceEd. Buffalo fans said they were going to get 20 1st rounders!!!

Sabres fans wanted a bit more, so we're stupid and yet we got "fleeced." HFboards logic.

that's a lot of hoping right there....if none of those aren't #1c (that's probably more the case) then what does Buffalo do ? They spent years trying to get legitimate #1 and #2 centermen only to end up with none now.
So do ya really need a true #1? We had a #1 and a #2 and what exactly did that do for us?

Sheesh

It's hard for me to believe that Vegas will be in the 10 worst teams even with all their injuries at the moment, they have a system that works and they will gain their own in 2022 in winter and spring.
We can cheer for Vegas to be bad this season and bad next season. It’s unlikely, but it’s possible.

Buffalo did fine here, this package was always about where it would be,
based on precedent, plus the extenuating factors of Cap Hit and injury
All the folks posting over-the-top NBA-style deals were guessing, or feeding on the hype

I am not an 'i told you so' kinda guy, but, basing it objectively and from experience,
I had been replying consistently, in all these threads, that deal would look something like this:

A proven young top player (Tuch...), a blue-chip prospect (Krebs...) a 1st, and a sweetener (in this case, the Vegas 2 for the Buff 3rd)
this is what high-end deals look like in NHL

happy for Buffalo, and Eichel, and the whole damn NHL, that we can all move on

They may be bad this season, but just not to be too bad, not in the top 10 worst teams, it was a shame to get a late first in 2023.

Idk, I still don't think it was that bad if a move. Trying to resign vanek and miller would not have resulted in winning.

It was just a comedy of errors. I don't think "culture" is the be all end all, but Murray had a core of guys that couldn't handle adversity and a coach that couldn't handle the players.

In retrospect eichel, kane, ror, and lehner being the prominent guys in the locker room was a joke, not to mention a sharply declining moulson who didn't seem to be the most driven guy.

Had we used the kane and lehner assets on different guys, and not iced a horrendous defensive group, we're probably looking at a different result.

Had magic lottery balls won you McDavid it would've potentially been the turning point of the entire franchise. There's no accounting for sheer, dumb luck. I know that's what the purpose of the lottery is for but I also hate when a team who genuinely sucks can't get a break

We still would have had Murray as GM and Bylsma as coach. I don't think things would have turned out that much differently. No player is good enough to turn a franchise around on his own.
