A certain person who's been beating the drum that holding out for a good enough deal wouldn't work can't admit that it worked. Shocker. (I'm not talking about you.)Omg guys! Adams could have totally gotten more if he did this trade before the season! Vegas as definitely offering more back then. So was New York and so was Calgary!
Am I doing it right?
The first line is obviously sarcasm. This is a fine return. It's not what a healthy Eichel would return but that just wasn't going to happen. Waiting, in my opinion, probably got us Krebs instead of a lesser prospect.
He had a history with Granato and Bjork looked decent last season, apart from finishing, I don’t know what happened to him this season.So far Bjork seems to be the only swing and miss of guys they've identified as having actively pursued
Yep. The asking price was rumored to be 4 first round assets. This is damn near close to what was discussed, but I will beating this dead horse... NO EICHEL PERFORMANCE OR RECOVERY CONDITIONS. I think you have to give up a little for that.It's basically:
1st
Tuch = 1st
Krebs = 1st
and the value of a 3rd; vegas 2nd for buffalo 3rd. Buffalo 22+23 3rd would be about vegas 2nd
I was a little wary based on what I’d heard of his nature in the org but he really seems to be making the best of a bad situationI like Kevyn Adams
And I have to think all they got were lowball offers in the summer. Look, I can speculate too!

In the end, Vegas was the perfect fit given Tuch on IR.
Don’t want to rush him? Who are these guys?
If someone put a busted up ferrari for sale and wanted full retail price, they wouldn't get many offers either.
My point is, by all reports, Adams asking price prevented him from getting serious offers this summer.
This is a good return...considering the circumstances.
However, a good bit of those circumstances (i.e. making the trade in season, limited bidders, etc) were self inflicted. Here is what we've been told via various reports:
1. The team was unwilling to share medical info until LATE into the process (either shortly before the season started or shortly after, IIRC).
2. Teams noted that the asking price was, essentially, for a fully healthy Jack Eichel.
These are unforced errors by a rookie GM which likely reduced the return. By limiting his trade partners by not getting medical info out and not having serious talks by asking the moon, he put himself into a bad position.
Adams is a bad GM and handled this badly.
You are never going to win the trade when you trade a top 10 NHL player.
There's only degrees of losing.
Adams tried to win the trade this summer and got .50 on the dollar instead of .75 on the dollar he could have gotten with more bidders.
It's simple: waiting for the right deal worked out. The rest is just speculation.If someone put a busted up ferrari for sale and wanted full retail price, they wouldn't get many offers either.

It's just that compared to Murray and Botterill, he seems to be quite a competent employee, of course he makes mistakes, and probably will, but he also does a lot of good things.I was a little wary based on what I’d heard of his nature in the org but he really seems to be making the best of a bad situation

I listened to Ryan Miller's interview with Mike McKenna and Scott Burnside this morning.
One of the things Ryan talked about was how the time they spent playing together in Rochester during the lockout helped build a strong comradery with that group of guys. Hopefully they are building some of that in Rochester this year.
Am I the only one that believes Eichel wasn't traded because they disagreed on which surgery is best? I feel like the decision to trade Eichel happened when they decided to trade Reinhart and Ristolainen. Maybe Eichel wanted out or whatever but I believe they were heading towards separation before all the surgery mess.
