Searched it up

Nolan Vesey and was drafted by the Maple Leafs. Judging by his stats I highly doubt he will be signed so giving Nolan a contract to persuade Jimmy is a big advantage for the Leafs. If they try that that is.
They could also fire his dad if he doesn't sign.

I really think Pittsburgh has a solid chance at getting this kid. It's not a long flight from Boston, Cup Champs and Pittsburgh while having some question marks at LW like an over the hill Kunitz, and possibly one hit wonders at LW minus Hags. After his 2 year deal would be up the Pens could afford his raise as well if he becomes a very good 2nd line talent(which I think that is his peak best case). Crosby, Malkin, Kessel, one would have to think would be a fun chance for a kid looking to make a name for himself. Then the fact Pittsburgh has shown they are more than willing to give a prospect a chance to earn a spot and keep it.

Mainly due to the absurdity of the 'rumor'.

I really don't care where he goes....the only reason i hope it's TO is for the reaction from posters like yourself.

Edit: what i mean is, whenever any info giving Boston the edge it's basically treated like it's the 11th commandment. ...even if the source is the barista that poured Vesey's 3rd grade teacher her mocca chino in a Boston Starbucks. But if the anybody mentions TO...."that rumour is garbage!!!".

Has anyone talked to his dry cleaning guy yet? Boston area people, can someone get on this?

Clearly his opinion would be inaccurate and mocked. "Someone" close to him has already stated that a requirement is to be close enough so Mom can handle all his laundry needs

It's Boston for sure

Is there some Vesey lottery simulator website where media members can hit a button and it spits out the "short list" and "odds"?

Maybe that's how this is happening.

It's either that or Toronto jumped ahead because his dad got paid yestreday as he gets paid on the 1st and 15th of the month.

Man, he hits UFA on the 15th. Toronto is a lock....

DONE DEAL

So Buffalo fans have given up on the "he wants to play with his BFF in Buffalo"?

So Buffalo fans have given up on the "he wants to play with his BFF in Buffalo"?

It's a mixed bag.

Some feel like he's signing elsewhere, some think he's signing with the Sabres, and some, like myself, are just waiting to see where he signs without guessing at what he's really thinking.

I want him to sign with Buffalo. But, I think he really is more open minded about the possible destinations. I don't think he has his mind made up and reports that he has make me laugh.

He wouldn't be talking about meeting with various teams if it were a done deal one way or the other.

Anyone know what's holding up this guy from signing with Buffalo?

I would assume if he wanted to sign, he would have by now...Is the consensus that he's going to test UFA in August?

Yes. Vesey's agent has said he'll be testing the market.

What's the deal with this guy? Is he good enough for a bidding war? Why isn't he entering the league through the usual process? Where does he slot in on the average roster?

He said from the very beginning he was going to test the market on the 15th. It has nothing to do with whether or not he wants to sign with Buffalo.

There really won't be a bidding war because the money is going to basically be the same no matter where he goes. And as for the "usual process" for entering the league, he's just taking advantage of the CBA that the owners agreed to. If a drafted player goes the NCAA route, he can become a UFA if he stays in school all 4 years. He's not the first to do it, won't be the last.

If he said that from the very beginning, why would BUF give up a 3rd ?
because theyve had a gazillion picks over the last few years and had FOUR 3rds in this years draft. It was worth it to take a chance and give him their sales pitch early.

who knows, maybe Vesey circles back and signs with Buffalo, one of the reasons being he liked how aggressive they were in acquring his rights. time will tell.

The only bidding war might be what A and B bonus teams are willing to give him and what spot will they give him a opportunity to win. IE on the hawks the 1LW (or call it 1A) is open with Teows and Hossa. Hard to manage that he would not get the full $800K of A bonus playing most of the year there and would have a outside shot at some of the 1.8 in B bonus. My guess is all the teams will have to commit to full 2.4 in bonus money and commit to giving him 1st crack at one of the Top 2 lines LW to have any chance of landing him. this would be verbal but Agents would steer cleints away from teams that renege on there promises.

Because they weren't listening.

As a bazillion folk have said already, Buffalo had 4 third round picks this year. They gave up 1 for a chance to give Vesey a sales pitch. We'll find out after the 15th if the sales pitch worked or not.

If it does't, there is no real loss.

...except a third round pick.

Which has about a 15% chance of turning into a player that gets 100 NHL games.

Murray likely felts the odds of trading for Vesey's rights and getting him to sign were greater than 15%.

Sometimes the odds tell you that you are making the correct play and you still don't win.

He is signing with Boston 100%. Saying he wants to test the market is just a nice way of saying im going to the Bruins. He would of signed in Buffalo by now if he was going there.

LOL

No. It's just a nice way of saying "I'm not signing with Buffalo." It in no way indicates he's signing with the Bruins...or any team, for that matter.
