You know that's impossible, right?

Part of the offer could be play time guarantees. So no, it's not impossible.

Also, the bonuses can be structured differently, to make them easier to obtain.

So, the offers can still be better without changing the monetary value. It's the smaller things that can influence decisions.

Can you really guarantee PT? I mean have it in the contract, you will play 80+% of your shifts with Eichel, and receive top 6 minutes in every game you dress? I think its more of a verbal thing. If you're underperfomring, PT can't be still given.

Maybe TSN and ESPN can co-host a program called "The Decision Part 2" when Vesey is ready to announce. Maybe LeBron James can host since he probably is free during the offseason :dunno:

That was one of the worst moments in sports history. Some espn exec: "Lets do a Bachelor type show, but feature LeBron deciding where he will sign.It will be great! We'll call it The Decision "

If this kid ends up sucking, by god....

Every year there's a college free agent people drool over. He could be a Schultz, he could be a Bozak etc. Who knows. You really have no idea what you're gonna get until he actually starts playing pro.

He's not so free if he only goes to a team giving him the best not too hard to reach bonuses

You are wrong.

Stamkos was not getting the same money everywhere. He wanted to stay in Tampa but also probably wanted as much money as he could get from them, which is why he almost went to free agency. He ended up giving a discount cause that was the best they would offer him, nothing else is a logical reason.

Buffalo and everyone else is offering the max. If he wanted to play in Buffalo he would've signed already. Pitches are close to irrelevant.

He already knows where he wants to play, he's just waiting till August 15. Sure hes gonna listen to pitches, but he already has a good idea where he wants to go. I 100% guarantee he's not signing in Buffalo unless the team(s) he wants to go to doesn't offer a contract. Quote me on it if I'm wrong

I don't know how you know this, and totally disagree with the bolded.

Pitches are absolutely not irrelevant. Getting a feel for the franchise, personnel, direction, competence of management, ownership, etc is very important and has swayed players toward and away certain franchises. As a player, you're committing to working and playing for a franchise, and you'd be smart evaluate how well you'd mesh and fit in with a specific franchise if given the chance. Maybe Vesey talks to a franchise on the bottom of his list but is impressed in the meeting with them and has a change of heart. On the flip side, maybe Vesey meets with a franchise he has his heart set on, but is disappointed with the talk/visit.

I believe it's possible that Vesey has a specific franchise in mind, but could also want to make his decision with the most information possible. I wouldn't rule out Buffalo if he really views it as a good opportunity when it's all said and done. There isn't a clear cut #1 here from what I've seen.

There is a strong Stamkos qualifier in this carousel.

Will sign with Buffalo after testing the waters because ...... Stamkos
Will want to play in Boston because it's his home town .......Stamkos
Will sign with Toronto because that's where his family is......Stamkos

So the answer is Nashville

For those trying to figure out bonuses.

http://web.archive.org/web/20141009010146/http://capgeek.com/faq/how-do-entry-level-contracts-work

http://satheronwaivers.blogspot.com/2015/06/how-bonuses-retained-salary-affect-big.html

In my opinion, it's difficult for a non elite entry level player to reach many, if any of the mandatory minimum thresholds. So I kind of doubt that is more than a secondary concern. Pretty much every team he is willing to go to will offer something similar.

Correct, the money in this contract is irrelevant to the team he ends up choosing. He is looking for the best position so he can thrive for that more lucrative second contract.

Its 99% that he is free. All fans that have been following this whole process know that he isn't likely to be a star in this league, but a top nine forward who 1. Doesn't cost anything to acquire and 2. Is on an ELC is invaluable when it comes to cap management.

I don't ever expect more than 40-50 points from Vesey, but hes free so I'm excited.

Actually he probably wants to be close to home because his father was diagnosed with cancer.

It's not just a hometown thing. His father is sick and probably wants to be closer to home. Also, money has nothing to do with anything. Do some research.

Also, the opportunity to play with Bergeron, Krejci, Pastrnak, Marchand, Backes, etc is pretty good. They'd be a top 5 scoring team again.

I'm sure a Harvard educated, 23 year old will make the right, long term decision....

Boston: Bergeron - 31, Krej - 30, Backes - 32, Chara - 38, Marchand - 28...at least Paster is a youngin at 20.

Sabres: ROR - 25, Reinhart - 21, Eichel - 20, Risto - 22 and Ok - 28.

Personally, I hope he signs with a dark horse like Dallas to play with Benn & Seguin....or I think there is a great opportunity with the Ducks on a line with Perry n Getz.

But maybe he just bleeds Black n Yellow but strictly speaking, Boston doesn't seem to be the best "fit" on paper.

May take a little longer.

He cant start to talk to other teams until the 16th, then there may be a 5-7 day courting period before he picks a team to sign with.

Right, his agent has to maintain the illusion that there hasn't been tampering from other NHL organizations. That would be hard to do if he since at 12:01am on the 16th.

He'll pick his bonuses and any team that wants him will say yes.

The Bruins have one of the deepest prospect pools in hockey. Also, I'm not arguing that he should or shouldn't go to Boston or Buffalo. I just imagine if he does go to Boston it's because he wants to be close to his family due to the reasons I said.

I'm not seeing how Boston ISN'T a fit on paper.

The Bruins are coming off a year that saw them as one of the best goal scoring teams in the league ( 5th in goals, 7th best PP ). One of their 30 goal/60 point players just left via free agency, creating a spot on the left wing that can be snagged by Vesey. He was also a main cog on the PP as the left hand shot along the goal line, a spot that the Bruins love having a left handed player on, so Vesey does have the opportunity to get PP time on the 1st unit. Also, one of their 50 point RW's left via free agency, so if Vesey can play on his off wing, he can play with Bergeron.

Not only that, the Bruins have two 60 point, two way centers in Bergeron and Krejci and two 50 point centers in Spooner and Backes. Any place in the top 9 he goes, he's going to be with a quality center who can get him the puck for scoring chances.

Marchand -- Bergeron -- Spooner

Vesey -- Krejci -- Pasta

Beleskey -- Backes -- Hayes
