He is signing with Boston 100%. Saying he wants to test the market is just a nice way of saying im going to the Bruins. He would of signed in Buffalo by now if he was going there.

LOL

No. It's just a nice way of saying "I'm not signing with Buffalo." It in no way indicates he's signing with the Bruins...or any team, for that matter.

Or he doesn't want to commit to any team (Nashville, Buffalo, or otherwise) until he gets to 8/15 and can hear the pitch from any team that might be interested?

Vesey has been consistent since the end of last season where he's said he's going to 8/15 because he wants to hear the pitches from multiple teams over a few days.

I don't believe his mind is made up on any one particular team and that he will hear a bunch of pitches and then decide for himself.

It might be Boston. It might be Chicago. It might be Toronto. It might be Pittsburgh. It might be the Rangers. It might be Buffalo.

Only time will tell.

What's the deal with this guy? Is he good enough for a bidding war? Why isn't he entering the league through the usual process? Where does he slot in on the average roster?

Sorry for off topic post, but excellent avatar. I love Owen.

Is there a chance he goes back to Nashville after their offseason moves?

Would they even want him after the public comments from Poile? Not saying they wouldn't, but he seemed pretty surprised, disappointed, and even angry.

Only way it's Buffalo is if Boston, Chicago, Toronto or Pittsburgh don't make a better offer because if he really wanted to be in Buffalo .... well, you know the end of that sentence.

lol... Well atleast Buffalo only gave up a 3rd.

Just because he is staying committed to hitting UFA doesn't mean that he doesn't want to sign with Buffalo.

It just means that Buffalo's pitch wasn't enough to change Vesey's mind on going UFA.

The thought process that Buffalo has no shot is the same one that said TB didn't have a shot at re-signing Stamkos once the courting period opened up.

No idea where he'll sign but I will say fans make way too big a deal of the "home town" thing. Players care more about money + opportunity more than anything.

The Nashville GM basically called out Vesey and his agent as liars so I would say that Nashville would be in the words of ESPN 30 for 30 in order of who he might pick.

Clearly his opinion would be inaccurate and mocked. "Someone" close to him has already stated that a requirement is to be close enough so Mom can handle all his laundry needs

It's Boston for sure

Actually he probably wants to be close to home because his father was diagnosed with cancer.

It's not just a hometown thing. His father is sick and probably wants to be closer to home. Also, money has nothing to do with anything. Do some research.

Also, the opportunity to play with Bergeron, Krejci, Pastrnak, Marchand, Backes, etc is pretty good. They'd be a top 5 scoring team again.

What %? 100%, 78%? Was there a study to link to on players views on this

Love the absolute nature of the statement. That's why a guy like Carl Söderberg stayed in Sweden till 27: those 300-500 grand or so were so much more worth than the 5 mill he is making in the NHL.

Wow, another Buffalo joke, how original. Those who know the least, always seem to have to opine on everything.

Not quite. Stamkos wasn't sure what money would be offered to him. If some team was going to offer him the max, he may not be with Tampa. Vesey knows how much money will be offered because presumably, all offers will be the same.

Buffalo took a shot, lost a third and has more than likely missed out. I personally think he's going to Boston.

I think stamkos wanted more like 10MIL per year and TB offered 8.5 and never budged. It was going to take more then 10.5 to make him move out of FL when you factor tax rates and comfort level and the quality of the team.

You are wrong.

Stamkos was not getting the same money everywhere. He wanted to stay in Tampa but also probably wanted as much money as he could get from them, which is why he almost went to free agency. He ended up giving a discount cause that was the best they would offer him, nothing else is a logical reason.

Buffalo and everyone else is offering the max. If he wanted to play in Buffalo he would've signed already. Pitches are close to irrelevant.

He already knows where he wants to play, he's just waiting till August 15. Sure hes gonna listen to pitches, but he already has a good idea where he wants to go. I 100% guarantee he's not signing in Buffalo unless the team(s) he wants to go to doesn't offer a contract. Quote me on it if I'm wrong

Will do.

On or about 8.11, GMTM will ask and schedule another meeting with jimmy and his representatives. They will offer max contract and bring in Terry Pegula to sell the vision. Eichel will be there to nod enthusiastically. Around 8.18 after the dog and pony shows, he will sign with Buffalo. In early June '18, Jack will feed him for the Stanley Cup winning goal.

I 100% guarantee it

He had his heart set on being a free agent.

Buffalo with its inside source in Eichel thought he would want to sign and play with Eichel. He may want to but he wants to see all that is out there before making that decision.

He wants to sow his Oates before he decides....
