NJ is also a wonderful place to live. I wish everyone around the league, fans and players would realize this. Yeah its expensive but NJ has everything you can ask for, everything. Get over the stereotypes.

Why? Why would you go to NJ over Chicago? New York? Boston? Toronto?

All those teams have higher upside than NJ

He has connections to the Devils as well? No one has said the Devils are a front-runner, all they've said is they're in the mix. He's only choosing one team at the end of the day, so there will be plenty of teams that could have been realistic for him to join that he ends up not signing with.

Has he said anything to indicate whether he's looking for a short-term deal or long-term deal?

He might want a short term deal to go to a great situation where he's playing with offensive players and get his stats up to sign a big, fat paycheque. Or, he could be looking at which teams offer a lot of money.

He is required to sign a ELC. The length of the deal will be the same no matter where he signs. Basicly the only thing that can change is his salary (guarenteed to be max for ELC) and Bonuses (Which some teams might not offer max im not sure).

"How do Entry-Level Contracts Work?
Players younger than 25 years of age as of September 15 during the year of their first NHL contract must sign an entry-level contract which have set limitations - all entry-level contracts are two-way contracts and the maximum allowable salary for players drafted until 2022 is $925,000.

The length of the entry-level contract is also dependent on the player’s age:

18-21 years of age: 3 years
22-23 years of age: 2 years
24 years of age: 1 year

Entry-level contracts can still include signing and performance bonuses. Signing bonuses may not exceed 10 percent of the contract’s total compensation, and is paid to players annually. Performance bonuses for entry-level contracts, that are paid by the team and count against the salary cap cannot exceed a maximum of $2,850,000. Performance Bonuses are broken into 2 categories: Schedule A and Schedule B. Schedule A Bonuses may not exceed $212,500 per individual bonus, and $850,000 in total. There are two types of Schedule B Bonuses. League-wide award/trophy bonuses that are paid by the league and are not captured within the actual entry-level contract signed by the player, and player & club agreed upon bonuses, of which the maximum is $2million per season."

I think he was more asking about the 2nd deal.

Its a great place but it isnt as good as other cities in the league. Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Montreal, St Louis, Minnesota and Tampa Bay are all much better. I cant really say for other cities because I haven't been there.

I definitely don't believe that site. He may be leaning toward Chicago but that blogger uses Haggerty as a source. That site definitely doesnt have any credibility if they are using Haggerty as a source.

Tom Fitzgerald is a close family friend to the Vessey's and Alex Kerfoot is Jimmy's best friend, I think thats why he is considering the Devils.

That being said, Kerfoot will never see the NHL. I think he goes to Toronto or Chicago

This Vesey kid must have been real popular growing up. It seems like hes got best friends family on every team.

Well Kerfoot was his roommate, soo, as long as Eklund doesn't say that New Jersey is in the running for Vesey, they still have a chance

I think it's Chicago or Boston. Chicago makes the most sense if he's trying to leverage his ELC into a big follow up contract.
