Bad trade. And I don't even like Buchnevich.

In fact, now that Drury has jettisoned both Howden and Buchnevich for space junk I no longer have a Designated Scapegoat (DS). I will have to spend the pre-season and at least the first 10-12 games searching for a new one now.

Ugh.

This is why 99 percent of trade proposals are fantasy land.
Having said that please stop trading now.
Goodrow is a C trade. Unless Blais becomes some wrecking ball power forward this trade has to be a D.

Stop now just pick 15th and call it a day

Oof. 0 for 2 so far
Say what you will. But hopefully Kakko replaces buchs stats at the fraction of the price. Kravtsov just got his increased minutes, and adding Goodrow, Blais, and. Gallant so far the rangers are going to be a way tougher team to play against then last year.

losing a beloved guy for 80-90% monetary reasons always blows

Love Buch. Blias has won a cup, hes 25, big body, on the up offensively. Banger. Will be a good fit on the bottom lines.

Does this take away a spot from Barron?

The 2nd is a nice addition but its hard to believe this is the best they could get for a 1st line winger who has grown into a fantastic PKer, with an edge to his game

If it was a 1st it would make it better.

Never got the love for Buchnevich - I found him to be a moping, wildly inconsistent player that struggled in the crunch. Never found the memes funny either.

Horrible trade though. Like comically bad.

Yeah - I wasn't gonna hitch our wagon to him over Kakko and Kravtsov. Always laughed when certain posters told me Buch was indispensable because "he's done it before and Kravtsov hasn't." Like, he's not THAT hard to replace.

But he's a 26 year old top 6 winger, and a positive player.

And this garbage is all we got?

This is some moron in our front office (Drury, Sather) is WAAAAAAAAY overvaluing "toughness," "grit," and "getting harder to play against."

That's what this is.

This is the Rangers stupidly overpaying for Blais, not that Buch couldn't have brought back more.

This is insanity.

F-.

This would be fireable if we had an owner who wasn't the one demanding these trades be made.

We'll trade Strome for a LD soon enough.

You guys are so emo…. There was NO WAY Buch had a sustainable spot in the top 6 with the youngsters we have and there would been paying him 5-6M for bottom 6 ice time. A 1st would have been nice, but he overperformed and it seems like a relatively fair return. Blais is an impactful role player and still young.
Agree but to not even get a first for a first line winger is just not acceptable. Blais will have a positive impact on this team but right now this trade is one sided.

He has a whopping 35 points in 115 games. You really don't know what you are talking about, do you? He is a slightly better Brendan Lemieux.
Points aren't everything. He is an elite 3rd line left winger. And will allow us to lock up other players like Zibby, Laffy, Fox, Kakko..
This is a salary cap world, you can't compare Blais to Buch one for one. You need to incorporate contracts. Blais at $1.5 with a couple more years of control is more valuable than Buch with one year till free agency.
This is a good trade... Take a step from the ledge and relax.

Not saying you got fair value but you’re not far off. You Blue shirts are going to really like Sammy Blais. And its pronounced Blay (rhymes with Day). This guy can bring it and has no problems putting any player in the league through the wall. Every once in a while he will make a spectacular play that will make your mouth drop open. And to all you novice fans who judge hockey players solely on how many goals and assists they have scored, you don’t know what you’re talking about. It is a little soft return for a guy of Buch’s talent but I am just pointing out that Blaze is better than you think. He might even become a fan favorite there.
