Confirmed with Link: Buch traded to STL for Blais + 2nd (2022)

Maybe the return was less than expected but you all wanted to be tougher to play against. Well, we are going to be tougher to play against. Blais, Goodrow, Barron will add physicality and I think Gallant is going to get the most out of these players. I think the 2022 2nd also has some value that people are disregarding. I too thought Buch would bring a better player return but it is what it is. The only thing that would get me very upset is if we trade multiple top prospects for Eichel.

Blais seems to be the type of guy to really go off under Gallant.

We traded Fox, Kakko, Laf, Panarin, Kreider, Zibs, Shesty, or Lindgren?
Important for the TEAM.

He’s a complete player
He can kill penalties
He has high-end grit and competitiveness
He can score at a PPG pace
He constantly works on his game
And if you don’t think he’s a great role model for our young players, then idk what to tell you

That stuff is important. Buchnevich is (and now was) probably top 3 in importance.

Fitting that Gorton is on the draft coverage, clearly crying on the inside that Drury is ruining his work.

No one should be shocked, this is what years of taking on the wrong contracts at the wrong time, failing to lock up the right players at the right time and failing to win leads to: losing players who should be locked up.

And getting less than you should in a trade bc their contract situation and your team's cap situation sucks. I dont really see that we were ever going to get what we should for Buch which is why i've hated the concept the whole time we've talked about it around here.

That said, Blais + a 2 is basically late 1st, early 2nd value. Did anyone think we were really getting a top 15 pick for Buch?

Hopefully Drury and Gallant are very much on the same page and this is a guy gallant is going to have a lot of use for. If you get one of those good bottom 6 guys and a 2nd (plus he covers LW which we need), then it's not really that bad.

Idk why we couldnt get another 2nd or a bunch of 3s, 4s and 5s to go with Blais and a 2 but whatever. Team's been f***ing up this rebuild for years. More of the same.

Why is there always someone who has to be a contrarian on this website? This is an objectively horrible return.

Or am I not allowed to criticize anything this team does?

You can do anything you Fing think you need to do. But it is ignorant to say that anybody who isn't mad about the trade isn't a true fan. Buch was always a goner. I like Buch and maybe the return could have been better but Im not mad, slightly disappointed yes, mad no. I'll get mad if we trade for Eichel and give up multiple top prospects.

Ok now you’re just playing semantics. Mad, upset, disappointed. Same shit. I’m very passionate about hockey and the players I love. And I just found out about the trade, alright? Lol

We’ll see tomorrow morning if I relax a bit.

You literally said that Buch was top 3 to the team in terms of importance. Laughable hot take. Scorching. As hot as the f***ing sun.
Well I mean right now. I don’t mean in 3 years. When you consider his production, versatility, grit, complete game, and how the players feel about him and treat him, yeah he’s kind of important. His personality too. Having guys like that is very important if you’ve ever played a competitive sport. Not saying you haven’t...

Yes I do think you need to chill a bit. I never question anybody's fandom no matter how vehemently I disagree with their opinion.
