I agree. However, It just puts into perspective the cost to obtain a D or center compared to the plethora of available wingers. By far the easiest most abundant to trade for
Ah much clearer now thank you.I think him moving in the next 12 months is a very real possibility.
Buch gained confidence and got better when given more responsibility and more ice time. That needs to happen with kakko Kravtsov and chytil or what are we doing? Sad to see Buch go, but he had to imo. I think they could have gotten a lil more as well but nothing far too major. A Mid to late 1st straight up would have been cool. The FO obviously sees something in Blais and wanted to get him hereI think a lot of people are overreacting. Do I think they should have got a little more? Yes. But, they have 2 cheaper younger RW's to play top-6. What they do not have is a real 3rd and 4th line. Gallant said he does not want to play young players on the bottom-6 if that is not their game. So, they are trading an excess top-6 RW and bringing in a need, a legit bottom-6 guy who can actually play the role. Just wish they got more than a 2nd with him.
That shits always gonna happen. I hate the NMC and MNTC. They make thinks way way harderI just go back to the Kreider signing. An albatross contract that indirectly led to this.
You might check and see if you have some pepto in the house. It’s still early.Another example of asset management that Drury crashed and burn worse than me in high school hitting on college girls.
Thank God I went out to dinner before I heard of this news.

Blais was impressive in his stint here on PEI playing junior...big point producer with Sprong & Chlapik and had a good playoff run as well . We have not done well with PEI junior picks....maybe this one works . https://thehockeywriters.com/charlottetown-islanders-alumni-graves-blais-johnston/I guess - I hope - the Rangers see something in Blais that made them willing to overpay for him.
What the f*** are you talking about? This is at least a playoff team in a normal year.I know we are in a really hard division and it seems to me already that Drury doubt that we will make the playoffs this season so obvious with this trade - so they sent Buch on a plane for a future and to save cap. space.
Is the plan to sign Eichel from Buffalo with 21.8 mil cap space?
My thoughts at the moment: The whole rebuild is delayed and Kreider, Panarin with NMC type of contracts until 2026 and wingers (LW position). Panarin is 29 Kreider is 30 already. Important to keep youth in hockey and I thought the center position was important in NHL.
I hope our 2022 2nd draft pick is a really, really promising player, because maybe Drury did not believe in this current team to reach playoffs next season, and it is much harder now with Buch in St. Louis.

You aren't?
St. Louis Blues fan here.
Just want to say that for the NYR fans, you will love watching Sammy Blais play the game of hockey. He's old school and has a scoring touch.
The Blues thought so highly of him that during their Stanley Cup run against Boston, they put him on the first line with Ryan O'Reilly. He was instrumental in O'Reilly winning the Conn Smythe as well as the Blues winning the Cup in 2019.
I know Blais is signed for this coming season. Anyone know his status after that? Is he UFA? RFA? I can never figure out the rules on things like that.
Buch was extremely overrated and has clearly stagnated as a player. I never liked the guy and felt he was so inconsistent that I could never have given him a long term contract. I’m not going to miss him for a second. He’s a classic, not good enough to be a top 6 forward but to skilled to be a bottom 6 player. The Rangers roster will be more solid not having these types around and they can finally “slot guys into roles”— something Drury said he wanted to do from day 1!
I mostly agree with this, but the return really leaves something to be desired.
It's not really an albatross because Kreider could have gotten double the money on the open market.I just go back to the Kreider signing. An albatross contract that indirectly led to this.
Shut the f*** up. We don’t give a flying f*** about him. Every team says that.St. Louis Blues fan here.

Gorton wasn’t great, but Drury might just be worse. Wow. I would have been alright if we got something for him. But this garbage return for one of the most important players on the team is just deflating.
And f*** Dolan too.
NICE REBUILD, LOSERS. JOKE OF A FRANCHISE. We will never win another Cup until I’m dead. Born in 1996 too soon I didn’t even get to see 1994.Fml.
