Rangers are clearly focused on building out their bottom six and shifting to a north-south game. I like Blais but I hate the asset management. Really hope Laf, Kakko, and Kravtsov take their play to the next level this season, because the Rangers just lost their second best winger.

Wtf..... thats horrible. Even a 1st and Blais would have been a disappointing return for Buch. Wtf....

I can understand overpaying for “your guy” but just dumping Buch…could have held him until the trade deadline, at least. No?

Buchnevich was such a great teammate here. Homegrown talent, that was drafted and developed here. Paced 72 points at 26 years old. Versatile forward, PP, PK...By all accounts a really good guy in the room, and an asset on the ice.

So, to trade him, for a 2nd round pick and Blais? What the F^$* am I missing? This one sucks. Pavel was a RFA. It's not like he was an expiring asset. I give Drury an F on this.

Yeah, this trade is tone deaf. Another grit guy with rings but blatant overpay. Not a great start to the Drury & Sather era but also very expected (if not wanted). And let's not kid ourselves Sather is firmly in the background of this with rookie President and rookie GM Drury in the front for the microphones. Choppy waters ahead.

Lafraniere to the RW a thing after all? They have no top line RW *yet* allows Kreider to play in the top six.

i.. I have no idea

Between nfl mlb and now nhl **** all my teams
No, we are gonna count on a guy who's scored like a 4th liner to produce like a 1st liner, a rookie, a scrub who can't score and Ryan Reaves. That's the RW depth.

Dog shit trade. Weekend ruined. It makes no sense unless there is a deal in place for a larger piece coming in.

.
. They’re certainly overpaying fir their bottom six

It's ironic because I'm sort of defending him, and I'm the one who won't like it, but a lot of you will like Blais.

He's very, very noticeable. There's going to be a "Blais effect" and he's going to get credit for things he had nothing to do with. People will claim "the team plays an inch taller" and there's going to be a game this season that he misses which we lose because the other team's goalie posts a .985 and people will say "see, this is the team without Blais!"

Blais has posted 14 goals and 28 points in his last 76 games. Let's assume for a second that the Rangers see a guy who can score 15-18 goals and net 30-35 points. Let's assume they see him as a third line wing who plays with Goodrow. That's fine. There's nothing wrong with that. Both guys fit that role and have some vluable playoff experience.

There's nothing wrong with that. The challenge is that Blais is ideally the complementary component of a deal for Buch, not the main component.

In other words, he's the Brendan Lemieux or Brandon Prust of the deal. That's what is missing here, the main component for him to compliment.

But, Drury is assembling his bottom six. So that's where the mindset is coming from.

But it's a dumb mindset. You can find Blais's for free or for lower round picks. It's like Drury decided that his burger was too bland, so he traded the beef patty to someone for some ketchup (and never stopped to realize that there was free ketchup over by the counter). That's how stupid this is. Our GM is basically eating a ketchup burger and he did it to himself.

(apologies for the tortured metaphor. Rage and what not).
