Maybe, at the same time, if we look at last season, this team was so flat when he was injured and just had another punch when he played. In fact, I think it’s hard to argue against that he was our 3rd best skater last season (by quite a large marginal).
Anyway, I am not saying that it was wrong to cut TDA, I don’t know all details. In fact, I/we know very very little.
But a move made must be a net positive or it wasn’t a good move. Right?
I am just calling it like I see it. I see a coach that is holding to his beliefs and his ways without getting any result. The way I am seeing it, I just don’t attribute much credit to him for how our kids plays regarding the ones that plays well. The one he really have helped — and that will pay off — is Howden. Howden is getting better and will become an important bottom 6 for us. Good kids coming in and doing their stuff like say a Lindgren, nah the coach shouldn’t get the credit for that. Neither should the coach get blamed for like Lias Andersson not cutting it. I had zero problems with DQs use of Kakko last season. This year? I don’t like it one bit. Kakko should have been on the top PP from Day 1 over Strome, instead — Howden — got more PP time than him. That is a power move. Step back and get in line. I am sorry, but you must help the kids.
There is obviously a lot of friction and adversity in our room. Players are not pulling in the same direction. The coach pulls rank and deploys his power at great costs. THIS is on the coach. And maybe it’s necessary, hey it could be. But I am wondering if Gorton is betting on the right horse here. I really do.
