Just finishing 2nd period here, and loving it! I told you guys this game would be rough AND was looking for a similar result as prior Islanders game. We are taking it TO THEM thus far, and really could be a helluva lot BIGGER lead than it is.

P.S. I hope this doesnt jinx my prediction. But, I somehow dont think so. We GOT THIS.

BTW, Stromer is playing a helluva game.
Spoiler: we win

See and this right here is why I want Gauthier to get more minutes. Another guy in that same mold is intimidating for d-men
I’ve been impressed with him even when he doesn’t score. He uses his body well on offense. Maybe defense has been poor but i do think Quinn is showing more confidence in him lately.

ALOT of hockey coming up here now barring any Covid issues. They’re about to go into a real rhythm of games.

I thought Georgiev had a very good night in net. Fox and Lindgren were awesome--though I'd give the edge to Lindgren in this one. I don't think the Rangers appreciated Marchand trying to pick a fight with Fox and they had considerable pushback in this one. Miller and Hajek played well and Smith and Johnson did their jobs too.

Gauthier with the seeing eye cannon. Lafreniere with the great pass to Strome--I thought it one of Alexis's better games. Blackwell with the wicked power play deflection--Strome picking up an assist on what really was a play made by Fox and then another assist off of Kreider's lucky goal. Strome had a lucky night IMO. Kreider only had that one shot but he played well--was moving his feet all night long. Buchnevich with the easy tap in on another great assist by Fox and then Brodzinski diving to tap in a really nice play by Rooney. Of the pointless forwards they all played well enough. I liked Lemieux in this one. I was hoping that Mika would get on the board but it didn't happen. Still he played well. DiGiusppe with his usual forechecking game and Howden somewhat quiet but he didn't hurt us.

Sam dropped some nuggets for us during the game..

Kakko is asymptomatic, just waiting for the negative tests.

He mentioned Chytil back against Buffalo. I do not know if he just misspoke or that's the teams intent, to have Chytil take a couple more practices/days to get up to speed and play Tuesday.
