Post-Game Talk: Bruins @ Rangers: Game ThrLOLee

Improve the power play.

Great idea.

How?

ALL the great power plays have 1 thing in common.

Shooters.

Who's our shooter?

Rick Nash? He's a dangler.

John Moore?

Teams have absolutely ZERO respect for our point shots, and rightfully so.

THAT's why our PP sucks. When you don't have to worry at all about the shooters up high you can go hard after the guys down low without worrying about the play going back high and shots beating your goalie.

Pressure our players, and the guys up high won't make you pay, recipe for disaster.

There's a lot wrong withour PP, but the biggest thing is no shooters up high. NONE.

You don't need shooters to score. There's no crease presence, they stay on one side, they are apathetic to one timers..I mean, who else ****ing puts a player behind the net besides us?

If Lundqvist doesn't leave this team when he hits free agency I won't feel bad for him anymore. He'll only have his own stupidity to blame.

Powerplay sucks and we don't crash the net. Rask gave up way too many rebounds laying in front of him. We can beat these guys easily its just plain and simple the game style that is being taught to these men is not the right suit. FIRE TORTS!!!!

Teams simply create their breaks, the Bruins buzz around and keep going and eventually something good is going to happen. Sitting back in your zone and praying to the Hockey God's for a win is not much of a formula for success.

Players, coaches, front office. I really don't care who gets how much of the blame, all I know is this is the New York Rangers in a nutshell and there's no signs of it changing.

At least the Rangers team the first year back from the lockout and the team last year brought excitement and you always felt the team had a good chance to win every game. But besides those two teams, just more of the same. Let Lundqvist get you into the playoffs kicking and screaming and get cooked when the opponent raises their play during the postseason.

We can talk about whether Lundqvist raises his game from the regular season enough or not, but he's not the only one that can be directed at.

I know I'm a Torts hater but it's just not working. Lundqvist can't score goals, he's carried 18 guys on his back all year and it's not going to last forever. If Torts is back next year they have to try something different. Every team is playing different then us. Even Boston who supposedly has the same system as us has set plays and has a fluid breakout. We don't have any of that, something has to change.

I agree with this. The Bruins are the blueprint for winning while uglying it up...and they still look flat out graceful compared to us.

regarding some of the posts in the other thread.

I would give these guys the credit they are due when they give me reason to do it.

Yes I am critical, yes I am nasty. I expect more from these guys.

Not sure about you guys but I can't watch the team I root for get out played and out coached game in and game out save one game here and there and think "Boy am I lucky"

What we are seeing is a ****ing embarrassment to the ****ing jersey.

The ONLY guy I am proud of is Hank. That's it.

I'm disgusted with the current product and the guy driving the bus.

It's a poorly constructed team being coached incorrectly but WOOOOHHOOOOOOO we made the 2nd round just to get swept.

I could care about wins and losses. I want a team that doesn't have to rely on the goalie to be in a game. I want a real shot to win games offensively and if at the end of the day we put in an honest and lose...so be it.

What we have now is we have to hope we play lights out and the opposing team sucks or that Lundqvist steals games.

That's not the kind of team I want to root for.

Dude, I here you and all I can say is we will alway suck as long as we have an owner who doesn't give a crap about the hockey team and flaunts it by giving an out of touch senile old fool a lifetime job as GM back in july, 2000 when in fact said GM hasn't accomplished a blessed thing since 1990 and has so far failed repeatedly here even though he has had 3-4 attempts to build a legit team around his star goalie!

Bruins fan here coming in peace

1) Why did Gaborik get traded?? Bc as you guys know very well, he was and has been a Bruins killer. Could of changed the outcome of this series big time

Was Sather supposed to know we were playing the Bruins at the TDL?

Gaborik is broken. He would be mince meat in a physical battle of a series like this. Love the guy, but his time here was up, and we got two future core pieces in the trade. Brassard has 10 points in the playoffs. Dorsett is a great piece, too.

2) Would the rangers have been better not to trade for Nash and keep Dubinsky, Anisimov ??

The Rangers under Torts are a better team with those players, yes. I don't think an ideal contending roster would have more success with Dubi/Artie than Nash, though.

3) You guys really need a offensive minded D, like the Bruins have with Krug. Is there anyone from the minors that can be brought up? In general , for much needed scoring punch, who else from the ahl can be brought up??

No one, and the Rangers have some decent offensive defenseman, Tortorella just simply doesn't activate them.

We definitely could use a slick, passing D, though.

Won't lie, I sold my soul to beat the Capitals as I can't stand their team and really can't stand their fans.

Barring some insanely ridiculous comeback, it is what it is. C'est la vie.

I was happy enough with that Game 7 that I haven't let this series bother me. At no point in the Washington series did I think the Rangers had a chance so that was a sweet enough victory. Especially without Staal and Clowe, I don't think the team did that badly. There was a thread a month or two ago about whether the Rangers would even make the playoffs and I really didn't think they would. Hopefully the team learns from this year and makes a deeper run next year. And I had Richards is gone.

If you really believe they don't care you just don't understand. Of course they care. Sometimes one team is better than another. The teams we root for can lose without it being lack of effort, or the coach's fault, or the ref's fault. Sometimes the better team actually wins.

I know I am wasting my breath.

Yep, pretty much agreed.

Yes, Sather sucks ass. We all know. It's been discussed here for a decade. It's not brought up much because most of us have resigned ourselves to the reality that Sather has a lifetime deal.

Dolan might replace Sather with Isaih.

your right, perfect example was brass bouncing off of Chara all night , Cally as well ,the effort was there, but they are clearly out muscled and that itself can deflate the whole team

I had a feeling this Rangers team just couldn't cut it against the Bruins. Bruins are a terrific team. Plenty of depth, everyone does their part, and have a great coach.

I've tried to remain positive because beating the Capitals was really all we could expect from this team, but at the same time I expect them to put out a respectable effort. I never get the feeling that this team isn't trying, I just get the feeling that they aren't performing anywhere near their potential.

Torts has been outcoached once again. The lack of breakout, atrocity of the PP and the defensive system has held this team back. I genuinely feel the defensive system makes the game more difficult for Lundqvist than it has to be.

Richards has been ineffective and injuries have played their part, but it is no excuse to be down 3-0. I still think he will be around next year, to keep pressure off Lindberg and Brassard while they still develop, but I hope that "A" gets ripped off his sweater and put on Stepan, just to show that this team is progressing without him.

The Rangers are losing these games along the boards. Our centers aren't as good and our wingers don't have the size or the battle level of the Bruins wingers.

At this point it's not just about losing a playoff series. This team is clearly not "a piece or 2" away as the current coaching staff and roster is set up. It flat out can not compete for a Cup. What are we now 2.7% on the PP in the playoffs? What about the fact that we have absolutely zero killer instinct? We tie a game up and go right back down a goal. Tonight Boston's 4th line destroyed us. I know some people will argue that we can solve our problems if we buy out Richard$ and bring in another hired gun for top $ but I don't see it. Our problems are deeper than one or two players and I think anyone who understands hockey can see that when they watch us play.

Did you hear Pierre rip our PP tonight? Well he was spot on, it is an utter disgrace the way we have played.

We don't have it guys and as this season went on and we went from cup favorites to fighting for a playoff team, it became evident to me that wholesale changes are needed sooner rather than later for us to have a shot at winning a cup before lundqvist retires or realizes he needs to get the **** out of this bs franchise to have a serious shot at competing.

you know, seriously, I'm getting sick and tired of people saying stuff like this.

What exactly would YOU do to coach these guys better?

It's so beyond ridiculous to say "completely out coached"

Really? I didn't realize coaching coudl turn a 7 million dollar center whose entire career had been elite but now is a complete bum back into his normal self....

I didn't realize coaching could somehow figure out how to get Rick Nash to score when matched up against the best defensive defenseman of our generation....and one of the best of all time.

The Rangers have lost 2 games by 1 goal, are in the 2nd round of the playoffs...again....

if he's being completely outcoached, that means there are 22 REALLY stupid coaches in the NHL right now.

lol grow up with that "if its so easy why dont you do it" crap. The guy is out coached because he refuses to change. He's trying to fit a square peg into a circle hole. Not many guys on this team suited to a dump and chase game and it shows. Open the offense up a bit and let your franchise goalie stop shots instead of diving in front of everything. How many goals go in because players try to block shots which bounce around Hank or end up right on the other teams stick. If it doesnt work, change it, dont try and force it more.

The problem is puck moving on defense. Moore is solid, but Del Zotto and Girardi need to be replaced. While I like Stralman a lot, we need someone solid next to him.

Richards is a shell of his former self and needs to be bought out. I figured they could get one more year out of him, but I don't see it.

We also are missing Marc Staal and Ryan Clowe. Do people conveniently forget that (not saying you do -- I know you don't)? I mean, is it just me or are those guys pretty important? Nah. **** it. They aren't.

Eh, I think the breakout that Torts employs sucks, and has sucked for quite awhile. I like all of McD, Moore, Stralman, and DZ on the rush. Staal is also excellent at moving the puck up the ice.

I disagree with you on DZ. He's inconsistent, but I guarantee he would look a lot more effective on, say, Detroit, or Chicago. He's still young, too.

Richards needs to go, yes. He ****ing sucks. It's pretty black and white.

Injuries play a factor too, yes. Clowe would have been huge in this series, as would Staal.
