Post-Game Talk: Bruins @ Rangers: Game ThrLOLee

we're losing because were not fast enough to beat the Bruins to pucks, nor are we big/strong enough to beat them on the boards.

We're the Bruins...but smaller.

They're winning because of Physics.

Marc Staal, a huge defenseman, and Ryane Clowe, a huge forward would have REALLY helped.

oh, and not having your #1 center be on the 4th line because he's SUCKED for a huge part of this season would be pretty nice too.

We definitely need to clean house. Sather, Torts, Sullivan, and Richards. Get rid of all of them. Hand the keys to Gorton.

you know, seriously, I'm getting sick and tired of people saying stuff like this.

What exactly would YOU do to coach these guys better?

It's so beyond ridiculous to say "completely out coached"

Really? I didn't realize coaching coudl turn a 7 million dollar center whose entire career had been elite but now is a complete bum back into his normal self....

I didn't realize coaching could somehow figure out how to get Rick Nash to score when matched up against the best defensive defenseman of our generation....and one of the best of all time.

The Rangers have lost 2 games by 1 goal, are in the 2nd round of the playoffs...again....

if he's being completely outcoached, that means there are 22 REALLY stupid coaches in the NHL right now.

I somewhat agree... but I've been saying it since last year.. Torts is a good enough coach to get you in to the playoffs, but not good enough to take you over the top... at least not the way the game is currently played..

The failing powerplay year after year falls on the coaching staff.... there is no way around it

Just an incredibly poor effort in a game that meant so much. To come out as flat and passive as we did just seemed so contrary to common sense. Truly a demoralizingly poor showing.

And, while I'm not Torts' biggest fan, if a team in the playoffs doesn't have a manner of professional pride, you really need to ask if you have the right people in the locker room. A coach at the professional level has a duty to motivate and manage egos/personalities, but that kind of showing isn't on the coach, it's on everyone.

Hockey is the supreme team game of professional sports, IMO, mainly because speed is the great adavantage if you are clicking, and the greatest disadvantage if you are on the other side of the coin, not quick with the puck and playmaking.

The Rangers were definitely the wrong side of the coin tonight, the dark side of the moon, the moist and smellier side of the turd.

I still think this series produces the loser of the Eastern Conference finals. Boston is playing well but is mostly scoring on fluky goals from the point. The Rangers are playing pretty badly to be close in every loss (except the 3rd period of game 2)

Not flukes that's an X's and O's coach taking advantage of the other teams weakness.

Grind down low because the Rangers don't take the body, when the forward drops down to the corner bounce it to the point and everyone goes to the net.

Brad Richards HAS to be amnestied. I've been saying it for months, but its absolutely necessary.

OR it's because Lundqvist and Brassard played fantastic hockey in the first round and made him look better than he is. If you think this is one of the top-8 coached teams, when you can see how reluctant he is to make a change or trust certain players, than I don't know what to say.

You can make a bunch of excuses for the coach. The other fans can make a bunch of excuses for the players.

But personally, I think it's time for a change. What's the worst that can happen? Lundqvist still wills a team of underachievers to a playoff spot to get eliminated early on? Because that's why Tortorella has a job.

Easily the worst playoff game I've ever witnessed. In any sport.

Well, at least they'll get to lose it at home. Wait, is that a good thing?

Not really..Boston has added to that pit...We havent played well...But Boston has been dominant. They control every aspect of the game. And i mean every aspect. Only thing that keeps us in games is Lundy. Bar none.

We are barely showing up.

I can't believe how bad we have been. This was the matchup I wanted in the first round. Maybe it would have been diffrent. I don't know. But man how wrong I was.

Just going to add a little optimism in a thread that desperately needs it. Consider this guys...in a season that's a gross disappointment and has been utterly frustrating to this point, at worst we made the second round of the playoffs (for the second year in a row).

I haven't given up faith, I'll be there cheering my ass off in game 5. I hope the team brings a much, MUCH better effort though...

Torts isn't to blame for Brad Richards and Rick Nash being unable to produce in the playoffs.

If Torts has to go to do something, sure. But **** the big names on this team, besides Hank of course. Absolutely useless.

I don't think the pieces on this team are bad. At all. I like the team that has been put together, to an extent.

Nash really wasn't that bad. He's had a good series, IMO. He had chances tonight.

Nash isn't a player that's going to right the ship by himself, though. Did you SEE the lack of cohesiveness on that PP? That isn't Rick Nash's fault. That is strictly from a lack of structure. Whether or not it's because of Tortorella, or because the turnover of this roster has completely moved away from what Tortorella has implemented.

I don't hate Torts, or even think he's a bad coach. I think his system, with the right players, is an effective one. It is based on winning a lot of one-on-one battles along the wall in BOTH zones.

This team isn't a very big or strong team. They are built to be a transitional team that creates chances off the rush, using speed through the neutral zone and hitting the trailer. Tortorella isn't implementing that style of play, and it's pretty clear that this team is not fit to play a style aside from that.

IMO, of course.

I'm mostly frustrated on Hank's behalf. Would love to get more done in front of him. He really does all he can and we look lost out there. It's disheartening.

Scotty Bowman could coach this team of misfits and Boston would still steamroll us! Time to wake up, smell the coffee and put the blame squarely on the shoulders of the senile old man who put this roster together!

Yes, Sather sucks ass. We all know. It's been discussed here for a decade. It's not brought up much because most of us have resigned ourselves to the reality that Sather has a lifetime deal.

what I see is a team that has scouted our forecheck and has devised a breakout that encounters minimal opposition.

I see a team that has scouted our breakouts to the point that we are back to the long pass up the middle hoping to catch someone sleeping.

I see a team that that has no problems getting through the neutral zone and into the attack zone with ease.

I see a team that pins the Rangers deep in their end for minutes at a time.

What I have seen from Torts is NO ADJUSTMENTS!

That is getting out coached

The good news....we are so sweet and gentle that we did not take any penalties again. Bad news, we got the ever loving crap kicked out of us with no response whatsoever.
