Post-Game Talk: Bruins @ Rangers: Game ThrLOLee

It is obviously a combination of bad coaching and bad team-building. Both Sather and Torts are to blame. I don't know how anybody could say that Torts wasn't out coached tonight when the entire NBC staff was pointing it out throughout the night. Our transition game is THE WORST in the NHL. Our PP is terrible and, as Pierre was saying, it has NO STRUCTURE.

Sather just constantly gives out terrible contracts and the fact that he still has a job after a decade+ of no success is a statement in itself.

BOTH MUST GO.

If it was one star player struggling, I'd put it on the player. If it was just Nash, and everyone else was clicking at their usual pace, then it's on Nash.

The Rangers under Tortorella have CONSISTENTLY underperformed on the offensive side in the game in the playoffs. That's on Torts.

What's also on Torts right now is how poorly the players are playing in the Rangers D zone. Maybe it's on the players. I'm sure Torts coaches Asham to get to the puck at the faceoff dot and clear it before the d-man can pinch in there (led to the first goal), but the D in this series has just been absolutely atrocious.

It's a flawed system.

Throw it blindly up the boards to the Bruins, don't try to make a smart outlet pass.

Power play? Dump it in and have on guy chase. Power play? Try to skate it in by yourself with no support.

It's a joke watching this team.

I hope they win, I really do. Nothing would please me more than watching the Rangers knock off four straight wins here because I die a little on the inside with every loss.

This is ****ing frustrating.

For the next game just bring in Al Pacino to give his famous Any Given Sunday speech before the game and just let the guys go in and play! If the team's gonna go down, it better go down fighting! That's all I ask.

I have to hang this on Slats. He never developed a decent bottom 6 and those key guys from last year (Prust, Fedotenko) were simply cast aside. Secondly, you don't have enough size and grit at the center position. It's going to be amusing watching the devils and rangers struggle over the next few years and then watch the Islanders ascend.

We could ascend too, if we got some decent picks, but

1)We suck at drafting offense anyway

2)Lundqvist keeps dragging this dying turd to the 6th seed

Don't know if anyone else mentioned it, but that's our first regulation loss when leading headed into the third in like 3 years.

What has Sather done wrong in the past 5 years or so?

McDonagh trade - huge success
Nash trade - In general a big win
Gaborik trade - surprisingly successful

Yes, Richards has sucked. But for so many years people were saying we needed a #1 center and for at least a year every Rangers fan targeted BRAD RICHARDS as the perfect candidate. And Sather got it done, and now it's all his fault?
You guys are pathetic.

Torts has gotta go. Sullivan, get out, please. Sather? Until he makes another bonehead move, I don't see any recent reason for him to be fired.

Sather has brought in 3 or 4 coaches since he started and the Rangers truly are only better off due to the goalie.

Sather is like a team who loses the first 2 games of a series and then has to battle from behind. He brought in Redden, Drury, Gomez, Richards, Gabs all for big money. He salvaged a bit on their way out but how much is yet to be proven.

The Nash trade had to be made. Sather simply paid more than other other team offed CBJ. The end result is still to be determined.

Gabs trade? Early glimmers but we'll see if we simply picked up a few CBJ rejects that will last.

Mcdonough? A terrific move. Was it Sather's scouting? If not the other scouts are still here.

The team isn't progressing any longer. If anyone believes the Rangers have talent then the staff isn't getting enough from the players. How long should we keep bringing in new coaches rather than changing the teams direction starting with a new boss who can bring in his coaches to set his course.

There is a team that has drafted offensive talent but is in dire need of some D.

Sather better be calling Edmonton.

It's SUCH a ridiculous misconception that the Rangers play dump and chase hockey.

They really don't.

They play a counter attack style, and dump it in when there's nothing else there...half the teams play the same exact offensive style.

Right now the biggest problem in our "system" is that we're not pressuring the points hard enough, for teams like the B's that plays right into their wheelhouse.

Saying they play dump and chase hockey is...

i'm not even going there.

They play. An awful style of hockey. Call it what you like.
The biggest problem is the PP.
followed by the coaching and insane stubbornness not to adapt or try to change in game strategy
Another huge problem has been the meager production from goode ole NA boys like Nash, Callahan, Richards and Stepan throughout the playoffs. Torts favourites.

Absurdly soft team. Mentally. Physically. All over the ice.

MDZ on the GW...wow. So many cardinal sins of defending violated in one shift.

I hope MSG has a new show next year called Endings. Richards will be doing a one hour special.
I think we still have a young team and I just enjoy the fact that I have a team to root for and have been entertained for so many games. We made the playoffs. If we loose it's back to the drawing board. Too many small players. Got to get bigger.

1 - PP sucks
2 - No slot presence, 3 forwards behind the net or along the boards most of the time. how many shots did the Rangers take that were unscreened? they scored a goal in a screen, why don't they do it more often?
3 - Puck support system sucks, allows the Dmen to take uncontested shots at Hank.

I think there is enough talent on this team to contend. I don't think the system as implemented fits the roster or vice versa.
Hey it's on the players to produce, but it's also on the coach to put them in situations to produce, I don't think the last part is working well.

Name a single NHL playoff game you've witnessed that was worse than what we just witnessed.

Game 4, Rangers Devils in 1994. Game 1, Rangers Penguins in 2008 (though that was mostly the third period). Game 1, Rangers Devils 2006. Games 3 (the one where Richter gave up the OT goal to Francis) and 6 against PIT in 1992. Game 5 against BUF in 2007.

Just some that come to mind.
