Post-Game Talk: Bruins @ Rangers: Game ThrLOLee

Is there any chance Tortorella is let go? Any at all? I'm just so tired of watching this system. I don't see us ever beating the top teams with this style. I WANT GOALS DAMNIT!...Oh well, I hope McIlrath is on the team next year, and Lindberg/Fast, and I hope Kreider has a bigger role (he won't).

Any chance we get any reinforcements back for game 4?
Also, isn't it depressing the Caps beat the Bruins last year, but we beat the Caps and lose to the Bruins lol.

I like Boston though, they're a tough team to beat. I HATE the Caps.

What has it been? 2-40 on the ****ing PP?

Just think about it, if they were even AVERAGE, not even, these series would have turned out different. Unbelievable.

No it would not, Boston has been in control of every game from the time the puck was dropped.

Boston is a team that can beat you. But when you loose against Boston, it should have been because they got to you and grinded you down. They managed to shut you down. Fought untill there was nothing left to fight over.

You shouldn't loose against Boston with Boston looking like Detroit Red Wings in their prime.

This is hockey. Of course we could -- potentially -- have won a game here and there. But from any kind of reasonable perspective, we have not even been close.

Lets call a spade a spade.

The players play like they don't believe in themselves. Why should they? Why should we win games?

-Our PP is among the worst in the league.

-Our PK is not good.

-Our offense is sacrifized on behalf of our defense.

-Our defense is avg at best besides Hank, no other team still playing even remotely gives up the amount of top notch scoring chances as we do.

When we win, its robbery. Even G7 against the Caps where robbery, Asham's goal was extremely flukely and no matter what the Caps had more then enough chances to score 2 goals before we made it 2-0. Then they fell apart when we made it 2-0, but that is another story.

We have Hank, that's it. And its -- of course -- not enough against a good team. We didn't play a strong team once in the PO's last season, we played the 8th seed, 7th seed and 6th seed. Hence the players are loosing hope.

We just need to play better. Torts or no Torts. I hate to see that Torts isn't called out more for the team's crappy play. Just weeks ago both Torts and Slats where out in media and trashed "experts" who called out how we plays. No ifs or buts about it, we must play better.

For those about to jump off a ledge - don't. It's not worth it. I avoided the boards this whole series, avoided them tonight, and I won't bother to read anything before this post. We're all in the same boat, frustrated, disappointed, let down. There is no need for angry rants, or talk of fire sales, not yet at least.

What can you say? This team just wasn't meant to win it this year. Too many injuries stacked up at the wrong time. Staal and Clowe out were the nails in the coffin for the playoffs. Then take out Stralman for the 3rd period and you get end of the series. But that's no excuse. I'm not excusing this team's play with injuries. Those happen, they just make it harder for the team to continue to win. No the problem with this team lies much deeper. There was no identity to this team this season, and that's largely in part to the mass overhaul we had this off season. While many here may disagree with this sentiment, we play the wrong style of hockey with the personnel we have. We looked uninspired, not motivated, and confused throughout the duration of the season.

Power play specialist? We have a power play specialist already on the bench. The players don't want to be on the power play. They play with no urgency, they play with no passion. They simply go through the motions and saunter. And they do that because their system is ****. The coaches have established an awful system. They're both to blame.

The system? What system? 6 goaltender system? Doesn't work. As we saw tonight, sooner or later, 1 goal isn't enough, and an experienced team will wear you down. Blocking shots? How many players have to get hurt for us to stop being so reckless while we block shots? That recklessness comes from Torts "Do anything to stop the puck" belief.

I'm not angry, just stating the obvious. Changes need to be made. This team is in need of something big to look like a contender.

You know what, this is exactly how I could have felt, if it wasn't for the following. The coach has been here for a long time. We have never changed or improved in any of the areas you talk about.

The guys in charge doesn't seem bothered with his performance and he doesn't promise any improvement. Its all the players fault. Anyone calling him out is some called an "expert" who doesn't know what he/she talks about. The PP sucks? "It will never be better". "Hagelin stinks". And that talk is 100% backed up by Tort's performance during his tenure here. Nothing ever gets better, sadly only worse.

I've followed this team for 20 years, I've never been more inclined to jump of the ledge. You don't get many chances over a period of two decades to ice a team like we have this year and will ice next year. Our coach must do a better job.

Relax. Rangers are gonna win this series. Remember you heard it here first. Remember.

Understand this, if you sit down with a team and say that from the following players we should get X, Y and Z -- you must on the bottom line get a Cup winner. Nash should have scored 5 goals in 10 games. BR should have improved the PP. Girardi should have not screwed up. Because there are always injuries. Hockey players are streaky per definition. The marginals are small.

If we get that, we get a team that maybe could take Boston to 7 but Boston would still controll the games. That is not a Cup winner. Like I said, loosing against Boston is not per default the end of the world. But its how you loose against them. Boston shouldn't look like Detroit anno 1997 when you play them.

The world is going to end. You heard it here first. relaxing in a 0-3 series hole is like enjoying the scenery when you're being mauled by a black bear. That said, I am relaxed. If we deserved to win, I'd be fighting it but... it's hard to be in the moment and watch the team play this bad and lack all sense of the word compete. The feeling of death that inhabits the locker room can be felt by the fans. I just want to see Torts gone.

No urgency and out coached, period. I was sitting there begging to see CK play on a line with Nash and Brassard and that lasted all of 2 shifts in the third and they were applying pressure and Torts switched them up!?!? Now I now we've all been ragging on Nash's lack of production, BR is just absolutely brutal, but when you look around the league and the names of the players on the first line, how in the world can you say that ours even comes close? Stephan had a great year don't get me wrong, but is he really a number 1 center, or worse, is Hags and Cally number 1 winger material? Also to be noted, I hate Daren Pang, but he was spot on in what he said after the game, you can't expect a team that keeps collapsing in front of their net allowing the other team to gain entry into the zone and hope to either block a shot or create a turn over to go on the offense, their gassed and have no speed going the other way! This system is done and I believe our boys are no longer buying it. You heard The King say it best, he can do a lot, but he can't score as well!

Well boys, we have a young squad to look forward to if we don't come out of this one and by the look of the team and not by the 0-3 entirely, we're going to need a miracle of sorts.

Well boy, we have a young squad so we don't get to look forward to "last games" (career or as a Ranger) by prominent players often. The last one we saw was Drury who at that point, mattered little. The buy-out was certainly not as anticipated as this one is going to be.

Not enough is said about Tortorella's coaching style, as inept as is it, being a hindrance on our young player's development. I just can't help but think how much better kids like Kreider, Dz, Miller, Mcdonagh and even Stepan would be playing for a coach that can utilize their talents and skills to their full potential.

You are unhappy with Mcdonagh's game!? Wow!!!

What makes you believe that the listed players would be better with another coach? What is the basis for this thought process because I don't understand it.

I think the real problem is that you believe the hype that came with these players. Every team hypes their kids. Inevitably, most don't pan out. Do you think that kids did any better with Bowman?

Kreider may still turn out to be something, but he sure doesn't look like he will be a big scorer in this league, so far.

Girardi + Del Zotto?

I don't see how Edmonton balks at that when they have **** for defense and a question mark for a goalie.

Why would they trade an elite offensive forward for a solid defenseman and whatever Del Zotto is?

Fans always offer multiple players to land a better player but would laugh at the equivalent in reverse.

Well it was fun while it lasted, wait no it wasnt.

We have been completely outplayed in every way this series and frankly, its been embarrassing. Wish it was just over yesterday.

Value is not fair in my opinion. Hall is a franchise player and elite forward. McDonagh is not a franchise player.

I don't make that deal in either direction. Take a look at what the top 6 D would be for the Rangers after that deal. Mcdonagh might not be a franchise player, but aside from Hank, his loss would have the biggest impact.

McDonagh is the modern day Bret Hedican. Elite skating ability and reliable defender, but very minimal offensive IQ.

At this point in their respective careers I would place him very much ahead of Hedican. Mcdonagh probably has the best point shot on this team. Granted, that isn't saying much.

I never want to hear anyone complain again about the Rangers not being on the back pages of the Post or Daily News...

Hall has yet to prove what his potential screams he can do and McD is elite. Pay attention.

Feds is also another guy like Pyatt and Boyle that plays well in playoffs. We could do worse than Feds on the 4th line.

For the record, boyle sucks. He always has and always will. Him centering a third line getting 20 minutes of ice time and being on the ice for the last minute of the game down a goal tells you that Torts has lost all sense of reality and needs to go. What a joke. This guy cannot score!

That's dumb even for you. He plays on a garbage offensive team and still puts up good offensive numbers with no PP time.

"Has yet to prove his potential"

Posts back2back seasons with a PPG pace of 72 pts and 90 pts.

No signs of potential.
