If Torts is still here, I don't want Boyle on this team.... he gets way too much ice time and worse, too much PP time for someone as slow and offensively inept as he is.(he has 0 PP goals in the last 2 years).
Also there is no way Edmonton trades Hall for McD .

Silver lining, this improves the chances of Torts getting fired.

Torts won't be fired after a second round exit in a shortened season, with a big turnaround on the roster and no traning camp. He will at least get 1/3 to half of next season before getting fired.

Watched the replay of the game during my lunch break, really disappointing showing.

Much like last postseason we are short a true top 6 winger. I know that's what we got Clowe for and his injury couldn't be predicted, but its very frustrating.

The breakout system we use is terrible, more trust needs to be given to the D men to make the play rather than just go 'safe up the boards'.

Richards needs to go. I'm a fan, I wad a fan off the signing, but he's cooked.

Other than Richards, roster turnover needs to be kept low. Try growibg a team instead of chasing the elusive peice that will 'put you over the top'.

You don't. It's why I wasn't a fan of the deal to begin with. It was a huge gamble for a crash and bang player like him on the wrong side of 30.

I agree. I really was on the fence at the time of the trade, but that was mostly because I really had not watched Clowe or paid attention in some time. I watch mostly Easter Conference games, although I live out here.
Just hearing what he might be looking for at contract time (not sure if was rumour or there was something factual behind it) made me think it was too desperate, too much cap hit, for too long. I guess we will see where it goes, but I actually have doubts about his health now.

Powe can be replaced by Oscar Lindberg or JT Miller... Eminger can be replaced by McIlrath or an UFA vet who doesnt suck.... Del Zotto i hope they try to trade him at the draft for a first round pick... if not keep him to see if he can rebound.... Jesper Fasth also needs to get a look

Powe can be the 13th/14th forward next year. I'd like to bring back Feds as the 12th/13th.

They need to add more depth at D during the offseason. See if Babchuk will consider staying in North America for a year. Streit will want too much money.

Fasth should definitely get a look, as long as he adds some muscle. He'll have a chance, I think he can really help the PP.

I think Lindberg is going to get a very long look wit his faceoff abilities and PK. Miller; pretty much his spot to lose.

For those about to jump off a ledge - don't. It's not worth it. I avoided the boards this whole series, avoided them tonight, and I won't bother to read anything before this post. We're all in the same boat, frustrated, disappointed, let down. There is no need for angry rants, or talk of fire sales, not yet at least.

What can you say? This team just wasn't meant to win it this year. Too many injuries stacked up at the wrong time. Staal and Clowe out were the nails in the coffin for the playoffs. Then take out Stralman for the 3rd period and you get end of the series. But that's no excuse. I'm not excusing this team's play with injuries. Those happen, they just make it harder for the team to continue to win. No the problem with this team lies much deeper. There was no identity to this team this season, and that's largely in part to the mass overhaul we had this off season. While many here may disagree with this sentiment, we play the wrong style of hockey with the personnel we have. We looked uninspired, not motivated, and confused throughout the duration of the season.

Power play specialist? We have a power play specialist already on the bench. The players don't want to be on the power play. They play with no urgency, they play with no passion. They simply go through the motions and saunter. And they do that because their system is ****. The coaches have established an awful system. They're both to blame.

The system? What system? 6 goaltender system? Doesn't work. As we saw tonight, sooner or later, 1 goal isn't enough, and an experienced team will wear you down. Blocking shots? How many players have to get hurt for us to stop being so reckless while we block shots? That recklessness comes from Torts "Do anything to stop the puck" belief.

I'm not angry, just stating the obvious. Changes need to be made. This team is in need of something big to look like a contender.

If we get swept in the second round to a Bruins team that needed a total collapse to make it to the second round, after having SC aspirations before the season, and Torts doesn't get fired, then he's a lifer.

Staal is big, Clowe is a 3rd line player, and Stralman was out for 1 period. The Bruins have 3 missing D-men. Bringing up injuries is lame.

If Clowe and his agent think he's getting a raise on his current deal long term they're smoking something good. A guy that sustained two concussions in a contract year isn't going to get a long term deal. The only silver lining to all this is that I think his injuries actually increase his chances of coming back. I really would like to see what he can do here healthy, provided he can play at his pre-concussion abilities. A 2 year, 7 million dollar "show me" deal seems about right. He can take a hike if he wants more years or money.

Cap staying the same also hurts them. I wouldn't be surprised to see Clowe settle for a 1 year deal and try and get a multi year deal 12 months later. I'd be all over 1 year deal if I was Rangers.

I've been to plenty of playoff games at MSG and I'm not sure there's one that I've felt more disgusted with than tonight. Just a completely lifeless team that looked like they were playing a preseason game, with their season basically on the line. This team has the right core, I think, but it's pretty clear there needs to be a major cutting of the deadweight.

I'm on the fence about firing Tortorella, but this performance was disgusting. No, Torts can't make Nash or Richards perform, but how about motivating the team to give a ****. How about adjusting the system. The Rangers should have 2 men forechecking the Bruins at all times, not this garbage version of the trap. It's way too difficult for us to enter their zone, and way too easy for them to enter ours.

Value is not fair in my opinion. Hall is a franchise player and elite forward. McDonagh is not a franchise player.

He has elite skating ability. Now whether that ever translates into him becoming a top level offensive threat is anyone's guess.

Rangers are in a tough spot with Clowe. They surrendered valuable picks to acquire him but it sounds like Clowe wants a 4 to 5 year deal at a premium price. Not sure the rangers can commit that much cash to him going forward when they have other signing priorities (Lundqvist, McDonagh, Stepan, etc.).

Look, this team just needs to come out and say "up yours, we're not losing". I know they have it in them. There's no reason why after playing the Bruins really close the past couple years that we can't come back and win a few straight against them. Same as the Caps series, despite being outplayed (in my opinion), they've come painfully close to pulling game 1 and 3 out. Game 2 of this series was the only game they lost by more than a goal this playoffs.

I still believe, but in order for that to happen, a new team needs to show up than the one that we saw tonight. This team refused to die against the Caps. If we're going down, it will be swinging, not taken out back and shot without a fight.

With all due respect, Feds is old and slow keep him away from here. Babchuk is a bigger version of MAB, outside of his shot he sucks period
