Post-Game Talk: Bruins @ Rangers: Game ThrLOLee

Wtf

that sucked. WTF...the Rangers are making the Bruins who needed a miracle to beat the Leafs be the 2011 juggernuts.
No forecheck, no sustained pressure, no second chances, no puck possesion, total 5-5 domination, unable to clear the zone, breakout, or do just about anything.
Not to mention the PP.
Bruins haven't looked this good all season, blueshirts stink, Rich Nash is a fraud.

Got tickets as a gift and for some reason I'm pissed off I went. They completely sucked the life out of the Garden. I feel bad for those people that spent hundreds per ticket on this no show.

As much as people say the Bruins don't look good, have the Rangers?

We are similar teams without a 4th line, without a defense that has the offensive talent the Bs do and just overall a lesser team.

Who is our Krejci and Bergeron? Our Lucic, Horton and Marchand? Our Chara?

They came out last night like they already lost. Doesn't help that one of the 'leaders' looks like an AHLer and Torts keeps putting the disaster or DZ and Richards on the points of the PP. Bruins play a board game but are bigger and faster than us yet Torts continues to preach a boards game. Adjust your damn game!

Not a lot of credit being given to Boston.

They are a better team than they were for large stretches of the season and against the Leafs.

They may not be Pitt but they have a ton of skill. And what they lack in top end skill they make up for in depth. Lots of mobility. Dominate board play. Intelligently move the puck in all 3 zones. Truculence when it's needed.

Build to succeed in May and June. And only 2 top-10 picks in the last decade to boot (turned into 4 with smart asset management).

Edit - damn should have finished reading. Agreed Qwertyaas.

I don't think anyone is saying Boston is bad, but we're just saying that our team should be better than they have been, but they suck balls instead. IMO, there's no way this team should be down 3-0 and having done it by being outplayed big time. The system has failed, we need new coaching. I'm tired of being one of the most boring teams in the league. It's getting us nowhere.

Look at the roster objectively. Where is the offense going to come from? Zuccarello and Hagelin are 3rd liners. Stepan, Callahan, Brassard and Nash. Those are the top-6 forwards. Notice, they are missing (2). Boyle is a great 4th liner. Same with Pyatt. They are on the 3rd line. Players are playing above their heads.

Yeah, when you have a guy like Richards who should be the # 1 center, FO man, PP QB and inspirational leader - pretty much a healthy scratch in Game 3 of the Semifinals, you have major issues.

Another wasted year of Hank in his prime. When we finally get the offense and PP situated, he'll be past his prime or gone - and then we'll be *****ing about that. Its definitely nice that the Rangers have been in the Elite 8 the past few years, but its also extremely frustrating when you just dont have enough to get over the hump. Last year was really the best chance in a while. What are you gonna do...

the main difference between the Bs and the Rangers in terms of their system is their pressure at the points, they come right out after the defenseman and we back off of their defenseman. they cause turnovers, we block shots.

quick passing can rip their system to shreds, but we're so damn station to station it's ridiculous.

our entire defensive system is built to be torn apart by a team like that...they work the points so well.

48 game lockout season. I don't even count it as a wasted year. Everyone is forgetting we started playing in late January.

Henrik will be in his prime for the next 5-6 years. While time is not ever on anyones side, especially in sports, its not like the window is close to being shut anytime soon.

Callahan is so overrated by this fan base its comical. Top 6 forward on our team? Yes. Not on a deep team.

Per NHL: #NYR had not lost in regulation in 99 consecutive games (regular season and playoffs) when leading after two periods.

The world is going to end. You heard it here first. relaxing in a 0-3 series hole is like enjoying the scenery when you're being mauled by a black bear.

That is the best line I have read in awhile! Thank you. It brought a smile to my face after a miserable evening.

This isn't something new. It took 5 games in the Caps series to adjust our defensive zone play and pressure Green. Until then he was wreaking havoc in our zone.

Fast forward to the Bruins. We give Chara and Boychuck as much time as they want to pick their shots. It's doesn't help when you have Zuc trying to out muscle players like Lucic and Horton.

Not adjusting is a huge issue. Playing playing outside of their roles is another. We don't roll 4 legit lines like they do. Hell, our 4th line much be the oddest one I have seen on a Rangers team. Having Staal, Clowe and Powe out hurts as well - although it's not like the Bruins D isn't hurting either.

And lets not discount the fact that the Rangers are extremely predictable. The PP has no movement what-so-ever. No one in front of the crease for a rebound. Defense is fine... for the most part but what happens after is a major concern. Chip it out, dump it in, board battles. That's fine against a smaller and slower team. But the Bruins?

Did I see right? We have to tie it in the last minute, and it's Boyle out there instead of Nash?

Since Boyle have been twice as good in the PO it makes sense. Hell, everyone not named Richards has been twice as good as Nash in the PO. Even Eminger. **** **** **** what a miserable game.

What bothers me the most about this series is that the Rangers used to match up well against the Bruins.

Now they fail to win board battles, they are unable to play a tight checking game, the forecheck is non-existent, they get outmuscled and outhustled, etc. Having Clowe and Staal would help, but even then it may not have been enough.

Adjust is not a word in John Tortorella's vocabulary.

You know what, this is exactly how I could have felt, if it wasn't for the following. The coach has been here for a long time. We have never changed or improved in any of the areas you talk about.

The guys in charge doesn't seem bothered with his performance and he doesn't promise any improvement. Its all the players fault. Anyone calling him out is some called an "expert" who doesn't know what he/she talks about. The PP sucks? "It will never be better". "Hagelin stinks". And that talk is 100% backed up by Tort's performance during his tenure here. Nothing ever gets better, sadly only worse.

I've followed this team for 20 years, I've never been more inclined to jump of the ledge. You don't get many chances over a period of two decades to ice a team like we have this year and will ice next year. Our coach must do a better job.

In my opinion, the change needs to be a coaching change. Both Sully and Torts.

I think the question eventually will become whether or not it's possible to field a balanced, deep lineup when you're paying your goalie nearly $7 million. If Brad Richards was the 90 point player he is supposed to be, maybe, just maybe, but with him no showing it's just impossible to expect this team to compete. I've said it before and I'll say it again, it is a miracle this team made the playoffs given the bang for the buck they got this year. Does that mean I'm content with a second round exit? No way, but I think it indicates that the depth is there. We're once again left searching for that top end talent...

Also, when evaluating contract worthiness, you need to think in terms of tiers and bang for your buck. Is having the best goalie worth the $5+ million premium it costs? I'm starting to think it's not. The difference between Henrik and the average goalie is much less than the difference between Crosby and the average center, for example. You have to play the cards you're dealt though.
