Post-Game Talk: Bruins @ Rangers: Game ThrLOLee

Hey, look at the bright side...perhaps Wade Redden will find his way back into the Bruin lineup!

Also, when evaluating contract worthiness, you need to think in terms of tiers and bang for your buck. Is having the best goalie worth the $5+ million premium it costs? I'm starting to think it's not. The difference between Henrik and the average goalie is much less than the difference between Crosby and the average center, for example. You have to play the cards you're dealt though.

Couldn't disagree more with your post. You build around Henrik. He's the best in the world. Brutal.

Torts and Sullivan have to go. The experiment is over!

Remember the first game for Clowe, Brassard, and Moore? They just got off a damn plane and had 0 time to practice. Torts was asked about the situation and said something like "I'll let them do their own thing tonight."... what happened? They combined for a ton of points!

Torts needs to let the players do their own thing and build around that, not strangle the team's offense.

If I were Hank and Torts was still around next year, I'd be looking forward to UFA time.

I agree that he's the best in the world, and perhaps that poster does as well...but he makes a valid point.

It's been proven that Hank cannot win a playoff series by himself...goals are going to go in that he cannot control and are not his fault whatsoever, no matter how good he is. We need help in a lot of other areas on the ice, and Hank does have a large cap hit, in an NHL world where the salary cap is going down next year.

That said, the hand we've been dealt is Hank has to stay through this contract, and we'll have to hope for the best in other areas of the ice. We may not win anything, but it is fun to watch the best in the world play for your team.

The same misguided argument rears its ugly head every year about Lundqvist and his cap hit.

Rick Nash has one of the highest cap hits in the league and he has one goal in the playoffs. Our $6.67 million center is currently a 4th liner and will need to be bought out because he sucks so badly. Lundqvist comes much closer to performing up to the level of his contract than either of these players yet he is singled out for taking up too much cap space?

It's not a question of whether Lundqvist lives up to his contract more than Richards and Nash...that is a no brainer. Nice try setting up a strawman argument though.

Whole season was a gigantic disappointment

Easiest way to sum it up. Right from the lockout to the underachievement of almost the entire team. Luckily since it is a lockout dwarf season it's hard to be mad, but very disappointed. I wanted them to show they were a legitimate contender again, seed in the top 3 but fall short of the Cup since it was only a half-season.

One out of three ain't bad right? :D

The argument is usually that Lundqvist's cap hit is preventing us from spending money in other areas. Yet this team can afford to pay one player almost $8 million, another almost $6 million, etc.

There is more enough money to go around with Lundqvist being paid what he is. Perhaps that money should be spent more wisely. If Sather continues making poor personnel decisions, it doesn't matter whether Lundqvist gets paid $7 or $7 million.

that sucked. WTF...the Rangers are making the Bruins who needed a miracle to beat the Leafs be the 2011 juggernuts.
No forecheck, no sustained pressure, no second chances, no puck possesion, total 5-5 domination, unable to clear the zone, breakout, or do just about anything.
Not to mention the PP.
Bruins haven't looked this good all season, blueshirts stink, Rich Nash is a fraud.

Not to mention that they really are plauged by injuries...

while i agree that we are totally not playing hard against the Bruins, Nash is definitely not a fraud.

What he is, is inexperienced in the playoffs. Just like Hossa years back, he'll learn and grow, and hopefully like HOssa he'll have some support.

Right now it just looks like we swapped Gaborik for Nash, while our #1 decided to go awol.

Its kinda pissing me off that Torts is "protecting" Richards by not playing him much at home. Sure he sucks, but let him go out there and fail then. He should get more time in Game 4.

He was basically a healthy scratch last night. Embarrassing. If you would have said when he was signed, or even last year that Richards would only get 8 minutes (2nd lowest amongst forwards (Asham)) of playing time in a Game 3 Semifinal matchup at home, I wouldve said you're crazy.

This is what its like to be Rangers fan folks.

Hockey's different here.

Three players on this team get payed like elite players, one plays like one. And that is Henrik.

The pie in the sky SF Giant fan in me says "we have them right where we want them".

The kicked in the nuts Oakland Raider fan says "what are these playoffs you speak of"

The level headed, pragmatic Ranger fan is speechless. :help:

Seriously, I don't get much news in the local media so I really appreciate all I read on this board. Without seeming like I'm throwing dirt on this season, and from far away, I hope there are some changes next year behind the bench.

Let's hire Joey Mullen!! :D

Had a nice big glass of Johnnie Blue when the Rangers beat the Caps.

Looks like that bottle isnt going to come out for a while again.

Tell that to the Flyers in 2010. :yo:

It's too early to bring up the Flyers in '10. Let me at least have the following day to sulk and depress around the house before I even allow myself to think about such a comeback.

Y u do dis to me?

I assume this means Kreider is ****ed up. Is he skating?

While they were stitching up his eyebrow, i'd be surprised if that high stick didnt break his nose. Hit him square in the nose and when he got up he had the teary eye reaction you get after being hit there. It would explain why he didn't return as if it was just a cut he'd have been out there... (reference Chara and Kreiji)
