Welcome to the Jungle

Hello @DominicT at one point you were telling us what happened with Ryan Mast but I think I missed it. Can you remind me or tell me where I can find more information?

There's a lot to like with Mast. His defensive game, his skating for a big boy, his physicality, his leadership, his willingness to stand up for a teammate, his ability to play against top players and his PK abilities.

My issue is this: While he put up decent numbers in the OHL, history has shown that for the type of player he is, that doesn't translate to the next level. Very similar to Brandon Carlo in that regard.

Mast should get some good looks this season with Providence so we'll see what happens. It doesn't mean he can't carve out an NHL career like Carlo. Mast himself has said many times he watches Carlo a lot to model his game after. The question is: will it be with Boston? Can you have two Carlo's playing the same right side position, play a shut down role and be a PK specialist?

St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Calgary, Winnipeg. Didn't check everyone but that's already more than zero.
St Louis - Jake Neighbors (52 games) Nikita Alexandrov (28 games)
Pittsburgh - Callen Addison (80 games)
Calgary - Jakob Pelletier (24 games) I'll give you this one
Winnepeg - Cole Perfetti (69 games), David Gustvasson (74 games)
Boston Bruins - Jakob Lauko (23 Games)

You got 5 prospects who are top 9 F Top 4 D and top 2 G you are all set

They do

Heard a podcast this weekend saying 80 % of the media folks who do these lists are Leafs Fans

Not sure what I liked more 80% reference or Leaf’s fans

They got 6 legit and top 3-

5 NHL foundation BLOCKING prospects

Logan is very good- you read his articles he has interesting ideas to never make boring

Covers Detroit and is hardcore

He had Bruins being one team of 8 to slip out or playoffs last September

They got 135 points

Logan not exactly Nostradamus here

I’ll ask @Saxon Eric about Bruins prospects who was a coach and has kids who were/are D1 athletes and told me 2 days ago he’s going to be watching Pelosi, Hendrickson & Neihring on flo hockey this week

I’ve seen every one of the Bruins top 6 prospects skate/ play multiple times as well and they may be bottom 25% but 32nd is a freakin joke written by a fan boy who’s team has had their balls kicked in for 10 years

I'm sure hes full of it but it's not the first list that I've seen listing the Bruins at bottom 5 in the league.

That Merkulov isn’t in the top 5 disqualifies this Detroit fanboy

Ha - I haven’t seen them above bottom 5

Doesn’t matter because they don’t need much especially if DeBrusk signs and they got a handful of legit prospects

Montreal & Buffalo can’t play all their prospects

They need to pick 2 centers - pay them a boatload and trade the rest

This ain’t 1980

Other than Perfetti, I don't consider any of these guys impact NHL players. (Your term)

And Perfetti was a top 10 pick in the draft.

My argument is they've at least played in the NHL?

We're splitting hairs if we want to go back and define my term.

No single player we've drafted since 2018 has sniffed one debut game? How about 20 or 50 NHL games to further development?

He s got some similarity yes, but if you say that he s got some willingness to stand up for his team mates and he s physical, it s all attributes that Carl dont have in my opinion, so maybe he can be a better version of Carlo, why not!

I think you are selling Addison short for sure. He's about a .5 ppg D in the NHL. He's less than a year younger than Lohrei. If this year (when he's the same age Addison was last year) Lohrei played 60 games and got 30 pts I think every single person here would be crowing about that being an impact player.

In fact if Lohrei has 30 pts in the AHL this year, I think people will call it a successful year.

Just for perspective.

Let's look at the 17, 18, 19 and 20 drafts.

There isn't a single D taken in Rd 5 who is an everyday NHL player. The best are guys like Leon Gawanke, Declan Chisholm, and Sebastian Aho.... guys who are maybe 7D.

Expectations for some of these lower round guys need to be tempered. They may get lucky with 1 or 2, but most of them will never be NHL players.

The real hope is on the Lysell, Poitras, Beecher, Lohrei group. Anybody from rounds 4-7 even playing 1 game in the NHL is a success.

He was also -17. By far the worst on his team and in only 63 games.

So far I would say his impact is not positive.

Lohrei was the worst D in +/- on OSU last year.

Patrice Bergeron had the worst +/- on the entire 2006-07 Bruins.

Lysell had by far the worst minus on his team last year in Providence. Would you say his impact on Providence was not positive?

I don't hold that against any of those guys.

It's really not a great stat.
