Caps fan chiming in peacefully here.

You will absolutely love having Orlov on your blue line. He has some of the nicest hands in the league for a D, and a cannon from the point. He is king of the hip checks, he plays a physical game that meshes with the Bruins mentality well.

As for Hathaway, he’s like a 4th line version of Marchand. He draws a lot of penalties and he plays his heart out at both ends of the rink.

Teams win in the playoffs with guys like Orlov and Hathaway. Good luck to them.

Thanks for the note. My 25 year old son is a huge Caps fan. He was born in the DC area and we lived there for 10 years. He lives and dies DC sports teams. I probably watch that team more than any, other than the Bruins and the Hawks. Always been a big Orlov guy.....

Hathaway is an annoying little shit, who everybody hates playing against. Glad we don't have to anymore, at least for the next 4 months. Can't wait to see him wreak havoc on OTHER team's blue lines, for once....

I got a great doctor, plumber, and mechanic - and when it comes to the cap & OHL I have @DominicT

I been with Dom when a scouting director land AGM of Western Conference teams who are both sellers came over to say hello to him. He’s got a few good areas covered

So I’m curious if anything brewing

But the Cap is my focus - do the Bruins have 5 M to use to acquire asset or pay the Bergeron Krejci abc Swayman bonuses ?

If so

I pay the bonuses and not carry over

I then can sign Pastrnak & hopefully do similar with 37 & 46 like this year

I would start talks and hopefully extend DeBrusk

Reilly if Mark Allred is correct is moved and frees up another 3 M

Due to age and salary id probably not extend Orlov - but I would contact Calgary about a deal for Noah Hanifin who has 1 year left at $4.5 M and turns only 27 next year

I’ve always hated/liked Hathaway and Foligno has been perfect - so deals with them under $1.5 M would work

Ok Dom - feasible ?

The only guy on that line projected to score 20+ is Hall. But yes as Leaf fans say… “capable”

This is so intellectually dishonest though.

Freddy clearly has 20g NHL ability. If he got even a shred of PP time he's got 20g guy all over him. As you admitted Taylor Hall definitely is. We know exactly what Coyle is, way above average for a 3C in the NHL.

It IS a scoring 3rd line in the NHL. You just want it to be a video game 3rd line. It doesn't need to be. That line's identity is that it can score, it's heavy, it's going to frustrate you in the corners, it has some speed, and it won't be embarrassed or pushed around in its own end. That's the identity.

I'm all for identifying the players you want and then paying for them, but it sure feels like a last shot type move.

It's a lot to give up (basically a whole draft - 1st/2nd/3rd) for rentals.

If anything he'll add to the need for an enforcer - stirring the pot more than he sips from it.
The picks are spread over three drafts

Nope, just saying if you think it's too good to be true just remember what it cost. Could also remember the last time Boston loaded up for the playoffs by dealing a similar package to Washington for an D/F combination in Gonchar and Nylander.

That IF is doing a whole lot of work here.
IF

About this size.

3rd line is legit

These guys rack up the points at even strength

Well said. Show me a better Third Line on another NHL roster and I'll listen......

Caps board is golden, simply lurked no posting on opponents boards but man is it fun to read other fans opinions of deals....off to the Jackets board I go now:)
One way to tell if a trade is good for you is to go to other teams' boards and see what they think.

The reactions I've seen range from annoyance to disgust to outright panic.

Judging from those reactions, I'd say that this was a good deal for the Bruins.

They got two contributors for only picks while keeping their best prospects and roster fully intact. That's a massive win IMO, their 1st is closer to a 2nd, their 2nd to a 3rd and so on.

So, whats the general consensus on when they may debut, anyone have an educated guess?

I remember when Sweeney learned that lesson. . .
Same reports also stated Columbus was ok to make a better trade if one came along while the B's were on the clock. How is this different?

Pagnotta said "#CBJ won't wait forever. It's understood that if another team swoops in with a competitive/better offer, they could go that route. Ball (or puck) is in Boston's court as they try to make the $ work."

Sounds like "The Dentist" is huffing his own gas.
Or he drilled too deep and hit a nerve. He was trying to get a home run deal, not caring about the fact that a great deal leaves both parties (equally) happy. He didn't give 2 shits about how it would work for the Bruins or Sweeney. He wanted it all, and he got nothin'. Well now he may still get a 1st from someone but he may still have to retain or take on salary. There's still a week to go but that can come fast if he doesn't man up, look in the mirror and figure out how he f**ked up that deal.
