I remember when Sweeney learned that lesson. . .
Maybe Columbus can fire that dumb-ass cannon to get attention!?!?Jarno/CLB can be salty all they want...
Were they taking Smith?
Were they offering a guy like Hatheway as a throw in?
Orlov is better than Gavrikov.
The Bruins OPENED UP cap room in this deal.
Go pound sand Jarno.
I remember when Sweeney learned that lesson. . .
Thanks for the note. My 25 year old son is a huge Caps fan. He was born in the DC area and we lived there for 10 years. He lives and dies DC sports teams. I probably watch that team more than any, other than the Bruins and the Hawks. Always been a big Orlov guy.....Caps fan chiming in peacefully here.
You will absolutely love having Orlov on your blue line. He has some of the nicest hands in the league for a D, and a cannon from the point. He is king of the hip checks, he plays a physical game that meshes with the Bruins mentality well.
As for Hathaway, he’s like a 4th line version of Marchand. He draws a lot of penalties and he plays his heart out at both ends of the rink.
Teams win in the playoffs with guys like Orlov and Hathaway. Good luck to them.
The only guy on that line projected to score 20+ is Hall. But yes as Leaf fans say… “capable”
The picks are spread over three draftsI'm all for identifying the players you want and then paying for them, but it sure feels like a last shot type move.
It's a lot to give up (basically a whole draft - 1st/2nd/3rd) for rentals.
If anything he'll add to the need for an enforcer - stirring the pot more than he sips from it.
IFNope, just saying if you think it's too good to be true just remember what it cost. Could also remember the last time Boston loaded up for the playoffs by dealing a similar package to Washington for an D/F combination in Gonchar and Nylander.
That IF is doing a whole lot of work here.
Well said. Show me a better Third Line on another NHL roster and I'll listen......This is so intellectually dishonest though.
Freddy clearly has 20g NHL ability. If he got even a shred of PP time he's got 20g guy all over him. As you admitted Taylor Hall definitely is. We know exactly what Coyle is, way above average for a 3C in the NHL.
It IS a scoring 3rd line in the NHL. You just want it to be a video game 3rd line. It doesn't need to be.
Seems like a lot of picks for a double rental.
If the B's don't win the Cup, it will seem like even more.
See Gonchar, 2003-04.
We just gave up another 3 draft picks- including a first rounder again- for filler players. Thumbs down.
One way to tell if a trade is good for you is to go to other teams' boards and see what they think.Caps board is golden, simply lurked no posting on opponents boards but man is it fun to read other fans opinions of deals....off to the Jackets board I go now![]()
No, this was already too much time in Boston-adjacency for me
(Although I admit I like Trillium Brewing, so maybe not everything in Beantown is bad)
They got two contributors for only picks while keeping their best prospects and roster fully intact. That's a massive win IMO, their 1st is closer to a 2nd, their 2nd to a 3rd and so on.I'm all for identifying the players you want and then paying for them, but it sure feels like a last shot type move.

Same reports also stated Columbus was ok to make a better trade if one came along while the B's were on the clock. How is this different?I remember when Sweeney learned that lesson. . .
Nobody from Boston ever calls it Beantown. Literally nobody.
Or he drilled too deep and hit a nerve. He was trying to get a home run deal, not caring about the fact that a great deal leaves both parties (equally) happy. He didn't give 2 shits about how it would work for the Bruins or Sweeney. He wanted it all, and he got nothin'. Well now he may still get a 1st from someone but he may still have to retain or take on salary. There's still a week to go but that can come fast if he doesn't man up, look in the mirror and figure out how he f**ked up that deal.Sounds like "The Dentist" is huffing his own gas.
