Hes on the RD depth chart and they'll be looking to rest guys in a few weeks makes sense TBH

They already had 8 defensemen in Boston, 2 of whom at least can play either side (Orlov, Zboril). That gives them plenty of opportunities to rest the D

I am far more worried about making sure Bergeron, Krejci and Marchand get rest down the stretch

My friend texted me a rumor that Hall might be done for the year. I have no reason to believe he is right, but wanted to ask if I have missed something. People are still hearing at least 4 weeks is that the latest? Any one hearing rumblings otherwise?

I've heard nothing new, call me an optimist but I expect Hall back for the playoffs.

I did not hear 4 weeks. I have not heard anything, which is ominous. Call me a pessimist, but you do not get a second opinion for a strain or sprain.

If it was an injury that required surgery why wouldn't he have already got it. The truth is none of us know.

as far as we know there was a push for a 2nd opinion but nothing official. Feels like a random Friday news dump will be coming up...

Weird to think he could be done for the year considering he had no boot/brace anything in that photo.

We don't even know what part of his body is even hurt.

Not sure if your friend knows anyone, but the only thing I saw that was that extreme was some dude on Reddit saying that Hall tore his ACL and is done for the year. That's entirely different than other reports we've heard, and the guy deleted his comments after getting roasted.

Partial tear seems more likely with the second opinion whether surgery or therapy,my one a last medical diagnosis, because I don’t know shit.Lol

it sounds like there's a question about how severe the tear is and whether or not he needs surgery in the end, or if itll heal if they shut him down until the playoffs

my guess is if it's cuspy, they'll make that hard decision but not until there's a sense of urgency around what the team is doing

let's say Boston draws the isle and loses game 1 and 2. Hall might draw back in if he's skating again, but i think theyll keep him on the shelf until he's really needed - IF he's able to play on it and save surgery for the off-season. My hope is it's a minor tear that heals with 2 months of rest and physical therapy, but huge question mark on it re-tearing if he plays this season

speculation is fine, i think that's what this forum is partially for and it's something that's going to happen regardless. I also hope he is back and healthy.

With these things, it usually comes down to risk evaluation. I am quite sure that Hall could play through it based on what I’ve heard (no brace etc), but there may be significant risk of worsening the injury if he tried to play. In that case he and team doctors will be weighing the upside (fulfilling life long dream of playing for the cup) vs the downside (career threatening injury?). I thinking getting a second opinion makes a lot of sense when weighing that decision. Time will also help assess the situation as swelling comes down. Plus if it is potentially career affecting re-injury situation, they would want to limit the unnecessary games for him.

My guess is we will see Hall in the second round and they will have a short leash on him. I doubt we see Foligno again this year. I hope addition of bertuzzi and Hathaway makes up for these potential losses.

Its to bad if both weren’t able to play ,because I don’t think Bertuzzi and Hathaway make up the difference of missing them.
