I remember Jumbo Joe getting a staph infection years ago. They can be very serious.
That is dangerous. I had MRSA in 2012 after a car accident and had metal plates put in my right ankle blah blah blah, they got infected instantly. Long story short I ended up on vancomycin via a 'pic line' and had to have the metal removed and a week in the hospital and it sucked.

Glad you ended up okay. That's so scary!

Wow that sounds painful. and scary....im sure people can lose a leg or foot very easily if not treated right away.

No metal plates but my father in law got put on vancomycin following an infection in his toe and caught MRSA. They didn’t catch it in time and he had to have his leg amputated to his knee. Then a similar infection caused him to lose his other leg. At the same time my Brother in Law got MRSA infection on his face but for him the vancomycin worked. That was the first I had heard of MRSA and at the time I remember thinking that hospitals might be the most dangerous place in the world.

Sorry to hear about your father in law , do you see him often...? Thank god for your brother in law..... I did get it , when a under cut saw I was using nicked the top of my hand.....it started gushing blood all over the place. I wrapped the hand myself which is the worst thing you do , if you don't get to the hospital right away....I continued working that day , like a moron...lol

My Father-in-Law and my Mother-in-Law lived with us for years after that. Even without legs he got a lot done. He eventually got prosthetics but due to different reasons he mostly got around in a wheel chair. He always helped with my kids. We needed them because my wife and I worked a ton back then and plus we both commuted from Boston which was quite a ride. They were both saints to us. My Mother-in-Law still lives next door with my Siter-in-Law and her family now. Unfortunately my Father-in-Law passed in 2018. He battled a bevy of auto-immune diseases. He was one of the funniest and wittiest people you could know. He’d meet your most innocent friend and in a few minutes they’d be laughing at bar jokes in a way you’ve never seen them behave before. He was just incredibly easy to get along with.

Very sorry to hear of his passing....he sounded like a down to earth super guy. Can't imagine a guy going through what he was going through and still make others feel good ......true meaning of a standup gentleman. Keep his memories alive in you and your families hearts forever. Again sorry for your loss HustleB

They are. My sister works in a hospital and she's told me some horror stories. During the pandemic we were scared to death for her, even with all the precautions she was still in danger (she is the hospital network's manager for sterile processing, lots of exposure to infection in that department).

Today’s Globe:

The Bruins dodged another bullet regarding Brad Marchand, who left Thursday’s win after banging his knee on a blind-side hit from Buffalo defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin. Marchand will suit up Saturday against the Rangers.
“He could have played last night,” noted coach Jim Montgomery, who sat Marchand in the third period for precautionary reasons.
They were still waiting to hear about Taylor Hall, who sought a second opinion on his lower-body injury — reportedly a knee issue, which Montgomery would not confirm. Nick Foligno, Montgomery said, will miss a “significant amount of time.”
Marchand was wearing a few stitches in his right leg from a skate cut. On Monday, he tangled with Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse.

“I was worried,” he said. “When I saw the blood, I felt I could be out for a while. Those are dangerous.”
