For some reason it sounds like the Flyers want him. God bless their pro scouts.

It would be smart for them to pick him up while they rebuild. Gain a pick or maybe a prospect in the process, hope to reflip him or whatever. They are about to gut that team I think, so they'll have the cap space.

I like your sales pitch. I'd try to sell the Flyers on the idea that the Leafs got 2x 2nd round picks in different years for Daniel Winnik. And if you notice, Nick Ritchie is big like Daniel Winnik. So if Philadelphia wants to slide over a second round pick, they could easily make a profit later on.

There’s definitely going to be a move. They won’t have room for a deadline acquisition if they don’t shed some salary.

Ritchie was really only bad for the first 20 games or so. He was okay after that, occasionally good. Numbers and cap crunch on a good team.
There should be a soft market.

great now we made all 10 people who gave a shit about losing him happy ..............
now they can stop complaining

hopefully , this is a precursor to a ritchie deal because we need the extra forward afterwards

Why would this mean an incoming trade? Curious, I'm not up on the cap stuff.

Ritchie in minors with Leafs picking up Brooks I expect a trade brewing; not related to Lily though. Since Lily is waiver exempt it makes sense he goes down (assuming just paper work).

Liljegren is waiver exempt.

yea... I meant assigned to the marlies. probably just paper work; but I have a feeling trade incoming. March 21st seems to be the NHL TDL. That is way too close to the playoffs IMO. If dubas needs to make a move he needs to make it now.

I think the enticement is the opportunity to unload excess contracts in preparation of the deadline and bringing back multiple pieces when trading giroux etc.
They’re at or near the limit so sending is 3-4 one way deals in the minors consolidates some money for them and clears a Spc space or two.
Obviously he wasn’t given 2 x 2.5m from us in a vacuum, you’d assume all interest wouldn’t evaporate because of a weak 25 game stretch.

Kerfoot is gone. If Ritchie goes, Kerfoot is part of the deal. Brooks is Kerfoot Jr.
Maybe we get a dman who can stand up to a little toughness.

The regular season doesn’t end until April 29. And the Leafs play 20 games between the March 21 trade deadline and then.

Dubas leaks to and Insider ..... Insiders make up stories to entice other teams to speed up their offers to Dubas ..... *** crickets*** ... I would imagine there is a long lineup of teams wanting to get a 7 goal , slow , one dimensional player... :)
The media is reflecting what most of the fanbase has been talking about since December, those headlines create instant clicks on a topic that people are all ready interested in. Perhaps rival GMs get their interest tweaked, but how excited couldd they be once they watch the tape?.

NHL GMs don't need reporters to do their dealing, they are hockey business men, those in the ivory tower are very direct when they're looking to do some business.

Not really happy with this. Adam Brooks doesn't move the needle at all and just crowds an already cluttered bottom part of the line-up even more. Feels like a waiver pick-up for the sake of making a waiver pick-up.

If they can navigate the cap with a deal so that he and a 7th D can be on the line up full time then (at least on game days, paper transactions save the accruing cap) he’s a pretty useful 13th forward to have as depth going into a busy section of schedule
