Need to look harder then, it already happened![]()
Yeah I know it's strange he doesn't deserve to go down

I really like Adam Brooks, but it really seems like a step backwards.
The Leafs just had a game with a completely healthy roster: 12 forwards, seven defencemen and two goalies.
There is no cap-room to add a thirteenth forward unless they get rid of a defenceman by trading Holl or Dermott or demoting Liljegren. The roster had seen fairly settled and now it seems back in flux.
Unless they're able to send Brooks back down without clearing waivers, it seems they certainly must have other moves in mind.
Where ever he lands up, I'm hoping that Brooks will get a sustained shot in the NHL – but I'm just not sure it should be with the Leafs.
It's not about him, it's about the Team. Such is life when you don't need to clear waivers.Yeah I know it's strange he doesn't deserve to go down
Believe Brooks could be eligible for LTIR because of how long he's been on IR (Jan. 20), as another option.
yeah i'm going to go ahead and guess Brooks is on waivers tommorrow and Lilly is back. they just couldn't put him on waivers right away.
Given that Brooks hasn't played in so long as is apparently injured they're probably sure he'll get through waivers no problem.
makes sense.
nothing to do with any trade i don't think.
Why not? Don’t teams do that all the time? They won't re-waive him right after claiming him, I guarantee it. They'll keep him on IR or LTIR him if it makes sense. Should be able to fine cap wise once Ritchie is punted.

doubt they want to stop accruing capspace just to have an injured Brooks on ltir though.
This is what I'd hope they'd do, regardless of any Ritchie or Dermott trade.yeah i'm going to go ahead and guess Brooks is on waivers tommorrow and Lilly is back. they just couldn't put him on waivers right away.

They don't? You claim players for your NHL team, not to try to stash them in your AHL team.
If the Leafs waive him tomorrow, Vegas will just re-claim him and THEY can put him on their AHL team. It makes no sense and it's a huge waste of time.
Dubas and the Leafs have built a good reputation with players. They won't yo-yo him like that. If they wanted to claim him for their AHL team, they would have let him clear waivers and they would have traded for him (like Clifford).

I'd be highly surprised if this is the route they take.
i think they will tbh.

i'm sure they talked to vegas, and I doubt with their roster crunch that vegas cares all that much about gettin brooks back.
Unless this is a favour to Vegas.....perhaps they knew that a team later than the Leafs had designs on claiming him. Now if the Leafs waive him, Vegas will claim him back and send him to the AHL.I'd be surprised because it makes no sense but I'll be the first to admit I was wrong if it does. If he does get waived, he'll just end up on Vegas' AHL team.

But that is still odd if the Leafs were the only team to put in a claim....then they blocked Vegas from doing what they wanted.
This whole claim makes very little sense unless there is a bigger move happening. Brooks would only be in the press box, and pulling Liljegren out of the starting lineup and sending him to the minors seems stupid otherwise.
Thinking LTIR might be at play here.
So if they don't care and the Leafs care about Brooks in the AHL, why not let him clear waivers and trade him for future considerations, save yourself the headache of demoting Liljegren and clearing immediate cap space...
I don't see it.
How is that being cleared? I haven't had much time to look around.....It's just as simple as the Leafs liking Brooks and saw an opportunity to get him back. They very likely tried to re-claim him when MTL waived him but Vegas had priority.
Leafs are on the verge of clearing a ~1M off the cap.
