Interesting vid...i had only seen the blald guy open the envelopes before. Still don't see how they weight the draw so the teams that are supposed to have a better chance at #! works with pulling balls like that??

You can read about it here:

Besides, if the Draft were rigged, why would it be rigged in favour of the Oilers of all teams? That's the last team Bettman would want to see get McDavid.

I'm American, I could care less about whether the Czechs came to play or not.

I think a bronze medal would be an incredible result for this team. As young as they are and with as many high-level declines as they had, even a loss and a 4th place finish would be impressive.

Still, it's finally time to start holding the guys who decline to play in the Worlds accountable by excluding them from best-on-best rosters. At least the bubble players, not like we're going to leave Pavelski, Kessel, or Quick off the World Cup squad for declining invites. But for bubble players like Schneider, Byfuglien, Wheeler, both the Greene's, both the Johnsons, etc.--to the extent they have a chance to make the World Cup squad, I hope their chances are impacted by their decision not to play.

Regardless, great job to the guys that DID show up. Great tournament regardless of today's outcome. Way to go!

Buff (and I believe Wheeler) was injured during the playoffs. edit: Trouba was injured too. Just an update on our American players!

Not mine as the US development system is one of the best in the world and puts so much emphasis on speed and puck control, which is evident with this team.

Yes very groundbreaking to emphasize speed and puck control. I just hope the rest of the world will eventually catch up to the great USA and will also start to emphasize these never before heard developement tactics.
4 bronze medals in the last 50 or so years in WC's that usually showcases the young upcoming US players since the older ones don't like to participate can hardly be called the best of anything. Yet.

Don Cherry insists that what you need are more goons on your team. That's the way to success in today's nhl

Woah, I just noticed the shots were 16 to 39. Were the Czechs peppering HELLEBUYCK and did he play good?

Nick Bonino scored the game winner to clinch a medal. Eat your heart out, Crosby. :naughty:

That was an impressive tournament by this young USA team.

I think the U.S. took one shot after going up 3. Another example of why shots while close are more telling than shots when down multiple goals.

He played excellent had help from a goal post as well :naughty:
Defense was good enough to clear the rebound when he left any.
