Congrats to the USA. As a Canadian I despise the Americans but they played one hell of a tournament given the group they had to work with. Kudos.

Im Russian. I watched the game between the Czech Republic and the United States.
What can I say? The American team was stronger. This is true. The Czechs lost and team play and individual skills.
The Americans won the bronze rightly. My congratulations!

Root for Russia, and I hope that our team will defend the title in the final against Canada!

The rule also refers to "obstructing the view" for the goaltender. You can't be obstructing the goaltender's view if the pass/shot is coming in from the side, so that makes sense. However, "obstructing the view" AND "standing in the crease" wasn't happening simultaneously yesterday, either, at the moment the shot was taken.

I say just scratch that rule! Very stupid and easy to become case to case like now

congrats to USA, they really impressed, with team speed and constantly being open in danger zones. Once again, if not for Bobrovsky, Russia would have been playing Czech for the bronze today.

How about everyone shuts up about the officiating from an entirely different game? Thanks. If you don't you will be infracted for trolling and removed from the thread.

If you do not know what I'm talking about you're probably not part of the problem, and missed this page before the clean up.

Is this the 3rd or 4th time? ;) It's great he changed his mind and played in this tourney. When are the next Worlds in Czech Rep? 2023 or so? If Jágr turns into another Gordie Howe and plays until he's 50+, he might change his mind again. ;)

The hosts are set until 2020. After that we'll see. Imo not before 2025.

Congrats to the US. They have a scary good future in hockey. Just take a look at the projected top 10 players in the 2016 NHL draft. Like 5 or 6 are American with only 1 Canadian. This program is really on the rise. Good for them.

As for the Czechs, I feel really bad for Jagr. The guy did everything he could, and at the age of 43.
Who's to blame for the loss? Pretty much everyone else and coaching.

Vladimir Ruzicka needs to go. He picks the guys he likes... not the guys that are the best options. And that is a big part of whats been going badly for Czech hockey. Too many guys around with this kind of mentality.

Scratching Hertl? Come on. He's in the NHL for a reason. And everywhere throughout Czech hockey(Czech Extraliga), these kind of things happen. Old guys getting MUCH more playing time then younger talent. It just boggles my mind and frustrates many of us Czech fans.

Something needs to seriously change in the Czech Hockey Association or these results will be happening for many years to come, no matter how much young talent we have coming up right now.

On a side note: before this tournament the Czech Rep. was 5th in the IIHF ranking with 3745 pts, the USA 6th with 3740.

Whoever ends up 6th after the tournament will get the luxury of playing against South Corea at the 2018 Olympics group stage (along with Switzerland, 7th, and whoever ends up 1st (currently Sweden)). It could be that the USA moves past the Czechs.

Slovakia got it in 2011 and 2019, that's why I ventured 2023. Although I understand this was largely due to Switzerland pulling out of 2019, deciding to host in 2020 instead.

It's always + -

I don't think there's an exact rule

Congrats to team USA on bringing home a medal. A real shame some of the better American players declined to go to this tournament. With better talent, it could have been Canada-USA in the final today.

Hertl's perfomance constantly decline during the tourney. I was thinking whether he bench him or not. Its definetely not good for his confidence but pretty understandable. On the other hand I am very disappointed with Vondrka's performance in last two games. He played without any aggressivity against NHL caliber players realying just oon his soft hands. But thats for diff. topic...

about Hertl, I think there had to be some injury, otherwise it doesn't make any sence. He didn't play second game in tournament because of some injury, so it could return or limit him somehow.

for Ruzicka.. I don't think he took bad players, of course he should at least try Elias, Nestrasil, Tlusty but I think that's all. All other players refused to come ot played in Stanley Cup. His biggest mistake was Salak as number one goalie, because Pavelec had great second half of the season and with Mrazek playing in Stanley Cup, he was clearly best choice. What I'm really pissed off, is his line changing. There wasn't single period which our lines started in the same composition as they were period before. That has to be very frustrating for our players

He stopped all 39 shots...how do you think he played? What kind of question is that.

Simple, I mean did he have to come up big or were they all just perimeter floaters. It is a perfectly valid question. Sometimes you don't have to work for your shutout..
