The head is just consensual contact

What's with all the ******** on Matthews today? Because he's not carrying the team like he did the past two games? Just take note- as rough of a game he has had today, he still wasn't on the ice for a goal against while for example Larkin was on for 2 and like Hanafin for 4.
It has been the standard practice to crap on either one of the supposed #1 or #2 in these games. Mostly it depends on if you are a Finn or a Leafs fan and there is a very very slight element of on ice performance of the said prospect also included. Auston is not having the best of games so here we go. It is completely irrelevant though, so just laugh it off.

Bronze medal games - some people need to be taken outside for a firm talking to, because we still have them :)

You clearly don't understand something the refs do: The intentional point of contact rules only stand if the head is at a normal level. He even lowered himself just before the hit. And to me he hits the collar bone area with the biggest force, the head is just coincidental contact. Which is of course why he wasn't even injured.

Ref missed it/ don't have benefit of replay that's all...They clearly weren't certain what to call, hence the huddle

PS: Show me a replay , not a photo, he purposely followed thru with forearm to the face= hit to the head

Have you watched his other games? He's had a pretty tough game today. He's still a top tier prospect no matter what happens this game.
Every 18 year old who has a bad game without high level players around him should absolutely be dropped in the draft. Forget all of the awesome plays he's made throughout the previous games, one game means everything
You guys are ridiculous. Nobody says Matthews isn't a big prospect or should be picked in the 5th round, but, again, the supposed best player in the world of his age group shouldn't only be good against bottom feeder teams, and yeah, I've watched his other games.

Literally yesterday and against the Czechs?

He was great against Canada and Czech though.

If you really watched his other games you wouldn't say he's been only good against bottom feeder teams.

Whole US team has been bad. But Noah Hanifin really takes it to another level. Like seriously he has been very bad whole tournament.

I will repeat my post earlier, it would not surprise me if Vatrano has a good year in Boston next year. Kid has a lot of game, in particular his shot. 2 goals this game. He has had a very good tournament.

He was great against Canada and was awesome against the Czechs. Played very well against Finland too. The only top level team he hasn't played well against is today against Russia

He's been a much better passer than he's been given credit for to go with his shot. He shouldn't be spending any more time in the AHL

Somebody should have told that to Malkin when he managed a lousy freaking 4 assists in 9 games in his 1st tournament a year after being drafted and a few months shy of his 19 b-day. you're one of the best players in your age group, zhenya, drafted #2, you think you can do a little better than 4 assists?

Matthews has played a great tournament.

Yep, and Vatrano just almost scored his 3rd today. Looks like a Great pick up by the B's. What does he have 8 points this tournament?
