Somebody should have told that to Malkin when he managed a lousy freaking 4 assists in 9 games in his 1st tournament a year after being drafted and a few months shy of his 19 b-day.

Matthews has played a great tournament.

Russian NHL super stars are notoriously lazy in WCs. My favorite is 2011 when Ovechkin was 0+0=0.

Matthews is and has been the best player on the US team. Laine has been maybe the third best player on Finland?

So better than Mikko Koivu and Jussi Jokinen? Not bad.

Glad to see what Vatrano can do without being held back by his center...

He has like 8 shots on goal. Just, 2 of them actually went in so he's having a great game.

He's literally been shooting from anywhere, including some really bad angles and weak blue line shots. He's got some in today which is nice but doesn't tell the full story.

At least we can beat unmotivated USA D-team.
How long shell we wait until our Federation invite some good coach?

Im curious to see this. He has been horrible all tourney. Just shoots from anywhere.

Vatrano has 8 points in the tourney. And he has been terrific in the bronze medal game. He's got a good shot, he shouldn't shoot? And as a poster reminded us in this thread he actually has more assists in the tournament. I would like to have more horrible players like this on my team if this is your definition of horrible.

Auston Mathews no medal at the world juniors,no medal at the world championships, looks like this guy has loser written all over him.
