You might have become a Bruins fan instead . . . and got to listen to the King! Jack Edwards! LOL

To be honest, I played my high school hockey south of Boston, so I was watching NESN regularly to catch the Bruins, the baby Bruins, and a good bit of Hockey East and ECAC action. The Bruins' road games were also on one of the local channels.

All that and yet, my Islander fandom went untarnished.

There was even a year or two in there when NESN showed a number of Whalers and Islanders games.

During the Cup years I’d visit my grandmother in South Florida and the AM station carried Islander broadcasts!

Not the signing we were kinda hoping for today, but interesting...

His 178 games of D1 college hockey played (for three schools over five years) has to be up there with the most ever.

Is there such a thing as 9 dimensions?
I believe that according to String Theory there are either 10 or 26 dimensions, and perhaps infinite parallel universes.

So somewhere there could be a Lou Lamoriello who is GM of a rebuilding team, hoarding draft picks and allowing his players to have long hair, beards and mustaches.

Question about Justin Gill - will he start the season at the Q as a 20 soon to be 21 year old?

Anyone else think that Iskhakov is ready for the show? He had a pretty good season last year and let’s be honest, he’s not getting any bigger.

I wouldn’t mind seeing him center Lee and Fasching if we trade JGP.

He was traded, if he plays in the Q again this year I'm sure he will get a haul at the deadline

Interesting. I don't know a ton about how picks are valued in the Q, but that seems like a ton to give up unless they know for sure he's playing the season there.

Does seem like a lot.

BTW, something I didn't mention that did pop out to me at the draft is that he's a bit knock-kneed. You can kind of even see it in the junior picture in the post above.

But off the ice, when he's standing, it's fairly apparent.

That is an interesting point. The main area he needs to focus on improving is his skating, so I wonder if being knock kneed is something that could be corrected, either medically or through training. And if so, i then wonder if that could improve his skating by enough to take him to the next level as a prospect. I have no idea on the answer to either question, but it does make things a bit more intriguing.

According to this list on the Bridgeport website, Sevigny and Helgeson will be back. Gill isn’t on this list.

Very interesting info, especially in light of our uncertainty regarding Sevigny. @MJF has always said Helgeson would surely continue to be part of the plans in BPort, if I remember correctly.

If I had to guess, here's what I'm seeing with each of these players in the upcoming season:

F Cole Bardreau - AHL
F Ashton Calder - Split between AHL and ECHL (primary)
F Joey Cipollone - Split between AHL and ECHL (primary)

F Julien Gauthier - NHL
F Ruslan Iskhakov - Split between NHL and AHL (primary)

One thing that does seem clear is that there really isn't a big need to sign anymore players. That never stopped the organization from adding two-way AHL-ECHL depth, but a look at the list dampens any belief in another player á la O'Brien being added.

Also, some tweets from followers of Baie-Comeau seem to indicate that they're fully expecting Gill ot play there and be part of what is looking like a pretty loaded Q squad. If it's a team expected to make a real championship run, that would seem like a logical place for Gill to be for now. Certainly no rush to turn pro.

Was there even an announcement that Bridgeport re-signed Sevigny to another AHL contract? His front was quiet this summer and then I see him listed on the BPT roster. 🤷‍♂️

It’s on the Bridgeport site so hopefully it’s accurate lol

Every year Helgeson isn’t announced yet he shows up for puck drop . Hopefully it’s the same thing with Sevigny. He impressed with his offensive abilities and size last year so I hope he’s signed.
