Don't stop with just the assistant coaches and AHL coaching staff who should've been gone way sooner. They need to fire most of MB's stooges involved in scouting (both amateur and pro) and player development. This organization needs a major overall and a different philosophy on how to run things.

Between what this organization needs and what's actually going to happen, there are miles of insanity.

Firing people? That's new, they usually get promoted or become scouts

I'm not sold that Lefebvre is going to get canned. Bergevin has bent over backwards for him last summer. I cringe at the idea that he's going to make him an assistant coach at the NHL level. Meets the litmus test of "there will be changes in the off season."

Head coach in Laval replaced? Check.

New assistant coach for Julien. Check.

Why fire friends when you can shuffle deck chairs?

I have to wonder at this point if any potential replacements will come from the RDS staff...:help:

Based on Mario Tremblay's giddy rhetorical questions about how Habs alumni should not longer be excluded from Habs' management and coaching and how he has claimed there will be a significant decision forthcoming, if we were to play Brian Wilde for a second -- wait for it -- wait for it -- wait for the boom ... and a whimper.

Hire Michel back even.

Exactly.

Given the insanity of Marc Bergevin's tenure, would this surprise anyone?

Lefebvre promoted to assistant coach with the Habs.
Michel Therrien hired as head coach of the Rocket.
Larry Carrière calls it a carrière.
Martin Lapointe promoted to GM of the Rocket.
Laval video coach and puck retriever replaced by Dan Lacroix.

Head coach Julien never got to pick his assistants, which is really weird. AHL staff is trash so firing them is 3 years overdue.

Bring in Joel as GM and coach at Laval. Like they should have done when they went to Laval in the first place.

I'd like to see Joel Bouchard and Dominique Ducharme brought in and have them work their way, based on merit.

Now that would signal a longstanding change that is sorely needed -- not just hiring the right personnel, but conducting regular professional performance reviews that are acted upon.

Julien is not the problem why Habs suck so much.
Julien made Galchenyuk a better player overall.
Hes a great coach , only in Montreal to bash a guy that won everything and who was put in the dumbest scenario possible.
Julien is chained by Bergevin.
Julien dont even have a top 6 center and 3 good wingers on the top 6.
Let alone the D
and Price playing like absolute garbage.

Stop blaming the coach for once. This team wouldnt be better with Joel Quenneville and Babcock behind the bench this year.
stop dreaming.
If he is chained by Bergevin, why is he accepting the situation, is it because he gets his pay cheque? He has no integrity then.

Those two names would be a french medias wet dreams for Laval.
I won't be surprise if this happens cause that's exatly what they are looking for.

"Dan Lacroix and the Laval video coach have been let go."
"Youppi!'s personal assistant, Yippee! has been let go after a 20-year working relationship with the beloved orange mascot. Habs GM Marc Bergevin stated it was hard to let Yippee! go but 'this is a results business, and unfortunately somebody had to pay the price.' Bergevin indicated that Yippee!'s salary savings would likely be reallocated to an increase for Rocket head coach Sylvain Lefebvre, whose application for tenure has been accepted. Yippee! was too disconsolate to speak with reporters."

It's because this is exactly what the francophone media wants that the francophone media started the rumor in the first place. This is how they prove to themselves and to us that they have power.

Julien has gotten an awful lot of patience from virtually every poster here, because as you correctly point out, the roster Bergevin has anchored him with is pathetic.

Julien does not stand up to Bergevin judging by the rarity of his not bringing in his own coaching team, and capitulating every time he suggested Galchenyuk may be tried again at centre and Bergevin nixed it in the media.

He's not helping his popularity by blaming his players for the poor season and adding a threatening footnote.

Compare the recent public statements of the Montreal Drain Trust (Molson, Bergevin, Julien) to Bowman's message at the end of last season. Night and freakin' day.

They're also great hires, regardless of language spoken or how the Franco media may or may not be pining for them.

Wilde was always a loose cannon before he joined up with his jovial pal. A loose cannon that mostly shot blanks.
He's usually bringing himself to tears about concussions as if anyone but him actually cares. I know that people should care about the issue but the fact of the matter is that people don't care unless or until it impacts them or someone they care about. It's the same reason why fans usually side with the league over the so-called "greedy" players during a work stoppage. Their livelihoods don't depend on a player's salary so they don't care if the owners screw them as long as the games get played. At the end of the day we fans want to see players play. We care about the uniforms than the people wearing them.

Wilde never understood how the vast majority of fans think. He wrings his hands every time someone takes a head shot but fans just like watching guys get blown up. He also fails to understand why players continue to take risks with their own health. It's simple for the rest of us to understand. They get well paid to take these risks and wouldn't do anything differently if given another chance. Players know that if they couldn't play hockey they'd be earning minimum wage pumping gas for a living. They will always trade future quality of life for a big payday in the short term.

Wilde doesn't so much expect people to care as much as he practically demands that we do. Just like he demands that we see things his way or he'll block us from his twitter feed and label us as "haters". He's far too fragile to work in the media, if you ask me.
