So we pick our GMs by style and not success now.
WELCOME our new overlords...

We are so ****ed.

GG Raps
GG Leafs

James Duthie just reported that new ownership "didn't like Burke's style." And that's a good reason to relieve him of his job... Ugh.

I hope this doesn't translate to: Ownership "didn't like that they couldn't push Burke around".

If so, EVERYONE, even those who hate Burke should be extremely afraid.

Two very Happy People in this city today:

Don Cherry
Francois Allaire

If Luongo deal was quashed by Burkes handling of Allaire - that would be amazing

Meanwhile, right now Craig Button is throwing Burke under the bus for poor performance on TSN 1050.

Sources say no recent incident led to Burke's firing. New ownership did not like his "style".

Exciting that our new ownership is looking to be so involved in hockey operations...****

Like many others have said-if they didn't like his style, why now? Why not either before lockout or after season? Unless the Lou speculation was the "straw that broke camels back"-and they just said "enough". It doesn't surprise me about Nonis, who was always more media friendly and more "toned down" in his media interviews.

I realise Duthie said it, not you :)

I think there has to be more to it to that. Why create such a distraction for the team by firing him right before the season. Who knows though.

I can't believe TSN just said that MLSE would want someone more like Bryan Colangelo running this team. BC is currently one of the worst GMs in the entire NBA. I don't care how nice his suits are or how nice his smile is at pressers, he has done NOTHING for this team, and actually made it worse.

Did none of you follow what happened with TFCs coach hiring?

This is the type of ownership we have to deal with.
