Hiring Nonis is like getting the apprentice to do the bosses job.

He's learned from him everywhere they've been, do the job in a similar way, just one has mastered the craft and the other is still learning.

Makes no sense, I would understand going in a brand new direction. But why get a smaller horse to pull the same wagon?

Well i agree with you there. Why make Nonis the GM? it's baffling.

There goes my were getting Getzlaf/Perry idea this coming offseason. I'm pretty damn pissed right now. There's more than just hockey to this.

Just heard Burke was due to be in New York for the BOG meeting and was pulled off the plane to be let go.

The timing of this is beyond bizarre.

I love this Lupul interview...finally a hockey player who's actually articulate and doesn't throw around "You know.." every other phrase.

Firing Burke is the first smart move the Leafs made in what.... 10 pr 20 years?

Damn.. has it really been 20 years since the run Gilmore and the boys made?

Oh well... I've switched colors since then and am cheering for the B's... but it's still fun to keep an eye on the circus that is the Leafs.

Ditto. Chicago fan these days.

But new GM, new ownership, possibly new coach? New roster? I'm excited to get back into the Leafs (instead of rooting against them)

One NHL team executive believes Burke's reluctance to move on Luongo cost him but I think there's more to it than that...

It always brings tears to my eyes when I hear/see people switching colours

Sources say no recent incident led to Burke's firing. New ownership did not like his "style".

Lol doesn't make sense. If he had a plan and didn't want to make a trade, we fire him?
