Maybe not 4 but this move ensures at least this and next season is a circus for sure. Unless Randy gets fired right away too and we get a full clean slate, otherwise it's Wilson being there ahead of Burke all over again and questions on Randy's fate after every 2 game losing streak and the new GM constantly having to answer question's about Randy's future.

Its gonna get worst with the Leafs before it gets better now.

I'm totally fine with it "getting worse". As long as its under a GM who has the plan to overhaul the roster the correct way, put his own guys in place, stockpile picks and prospects and rebuild.

Not okay if the new guy is an extension of ownership (nonis for example) who is going to try and continue to carry out Burke's plan but under managements guidance.

Burke may have not had this ship moving fast, but it was at least going in the right direction.

You think it was because of him?

Try a 8 years of losing hockey, ownership with a reputation for interfering in hockey related matters, its an utter disaster.

I can't wait for all the Burke haters to eat crow when they realize the new guy wasn't brought in to do the opposite of Burke... but purely for MLSE's bidding.

Patience. All the Burke supporters are busy eating their crow first.

If reports are true, Burke falls on his sword for saying no to Luongo deal, this Organization is ****ed.

Terrible a GM can't manage a team, anyoine recall Ballard. The Leafs are a sad pathetic story to Toronto.

Lots more to this......his handling of many situations that involving the Leafs have been horrible. His treatment of the media has been terrible. Trading players because his captain wants him to. Allowing his goalie coach to be undermined by his coaches. Attacking players in the media and allowing coaches to do so as well.

He made some great moves, but also some horrible ones.....his downfall was his himself....his attitude and BS ran its course.

See you Burke.

Good!!!

And LOL at the people crying over this on the first couple pages. It's literally funny to see all these losers who love Burke. Completely foolish. I hope these Burke supporters take their fandom elsewhere now that he's gone.

No different than the losers celebrating that he's gone.

If it is due to Burke not wanting to take on Luongo, I wonder if it was due to Burke overvaluing his own players - which has been speculated in the past that he tends to do. Where as others (including the owners) questioned why when it's for an elite goaltender.

Just a thought.

If it's about Burke not wanting Lou - then I agree with Burke ... WHEN (not if) Lou retires early - the Leafs will have a cap hit of about $3million a year until the end of Lou's contract (based new CBA) - that's a LOT for a goalie you no longer have!

Have to say I'm certainly more upbeat about this than worried.

Yeah, the timing is a bit odd. But at the same time all the failure of Burke's tenure was bound to get him fired eventually. Came in with his big proclamations and accomplished absolutely nothing.

Its gonna be hilarious when all these "anti-burke" fans see whats next. I can see it already, Luongo comes and pushes us into prolonged mediocrity, with Nonis flipping picks here and there, attempting to squeeze in.

Burke was the ultimate treadmill pusher!

He traded for Kessel and paid him top dollar when all you guys had to do was stand pat and collect your consecutive top 3 picks and away you go.

Burke has been making treadmill moves during his whole tenure.

Unless you guys are hiring a complete buffoon, you will be better off.

An embarrassing tenure he left behind in Toronto.

He should apologize to Leafs fans.
Not at all. When he came in, this team had no assets to put on ice. They have decent players signed now, and a good lot of young guys in the minors.

It's got to be over a difference of opinion in how to handle the new CBA and the direction he wanted to take.

The timing of this suggests it was a reactionary move by ownership...ie, they tried to intervene and he said "my way or the highway" and they said highway.

Really don't like this.

Exactly. The optics and the timing of this decision is a complete and utter embarrassment to the franchise. It's reminiscent of the Ballard years FFS...
