Looks like Rogers+Bell+Tanenbaum is going to be worse than Peddie+Tanenbaum+OTPP.

I will be looking in to the best options for cancelling my Rogers account. I'm an addict, so I can't stop following The Leafs.. but I sure can move my $400 / month Telecomm bill to the smaller companies.

If reports are true, Burke falls on his sword for saying no to Luongo deal, this Organization is ****ed.

Terrible a GM can't manage a team, anyoine recall Ballard. The Leafs are a sad pathetic story to Toronto.
Ya Ballard and Burke are the exact same :amazed:

Everyone, say hello to the new General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs:

I think I just threw up in my mouth!!! That's a terrifying idea!!!

Its gonna be hilarious when all these "anti-burke" fans see whats next. I can see it already, Luongo comes and pushes us into prolonged mediocrity, with Nonis flipping picks here and there, attempting to squeeze in.

If Burke got fired because of his poor record and refusal for major player movement...

...Why is Colangelo still around?

It can't be because of a player in particular (Luongo). It doesn't make sense.

Brian Burke kept trying to change the Roberto Luongo deal wonder if the new GM will move a little quicker. Canucks want 3 elements.

This is so ****ed up! We BETTER get a explanation for this. Something must of gone down ****.

Really can't understand love affair with Burke. Everyone but TML fans think he's pretty much a mediocre GM.

I live in TO, I hear this stuff all the time. Is he the worst? No. Is he worth crying over? No.

Is the team better than 5 years ago? Maybe? Would they have been better just by being crap and using those top picks year after year with a monkey as a GM? Probably?

Not trying to troll or anything. I kinda like the Leafs. Just don't understand all you guys jumping off a bridge when it's probable Nonis will do a better job. Chill!

Whoa. What?

Whoa....

Kind've the last thing I expected as the Leafs first move.

Falling on his sword re: Luongo trades? Yikes. Makes you wonder...

Whoa.

Surely you can't compare these Leafs to those. Ballard was the worst of the worst, I'm not sure if we can ever approach something as bad as that again.

WHAT THE **** IS THIS ********! WORST ****ING TIMING EVER. ATLEAST GIVE HIM THE SHORTENED SEASON FOR ****SAKES. WTF. I AM SO ****ING PISSED. I KNOW HE TOOK A LOT OF FLAK BUT HE HAS SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVED THIS TEAM AND APPARENTLY WERE ON THE VERGE OF GETTING LUONGO! **** EVERYTHING. ****ING ****.kgsdflpgjklasdfhsfjklp

JUST HIRED A NEW COACH. WTF DOES THAT SAY? dfs IM DONE. WHO THE HELL IS OUT THERE TO REPLACE HIM? WHERES THE BRILLIANT GENIUS TO FIX THIS GOD FOR SAKEN TEAM.

:jnc

Gonna LOL at all of you guys when we land no FA's because noone wants to come and be a part of this circus act.

Seriously what org fires their GM after a 118 day lockout... the new guy could have been preparing this whole time. Such a farce.

Yeah, Burke was really landing the top free agents during his tenure.

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger

Timing of Burke dismissal very odd. He and all brass were at Marlies game last night in Hamilton. Truth will surface. Something fishy.

Maybe it was a mutual thing then. Maybe he retains presidency and hands GM over to Nonis. Maybe he's fired from both positions and is out of Toronto for good. Maybe he wants another position.

I know reports say 'fire' but fire could simply mean that Burke is no longer GM and not necessarily that he was removed from the position against his wishes.

As a HABS fan im excited about this. Feel sorry for you leafs fans tho.

I get the feeling Burke didn't want to trade Kadri in a deal for Luongo and ownership doesn't care the cost?
