yeah... Getzlaf is a long shot to begin with but it's relieving that we can actually offer him a full 7 years now instead of 5 and having a slight chance instead of No chance
 
If reports are true, Burke falls on his sword for saying no to Luongo deal, this Organization is ****ed.

Terrible a GM can't manage a team, anyoine recall Ballard. The Leafs are a sad pathetic story to Toronto.

There has to be something more going on here.

It's bad timing, bad for the team, even if you're not a Burke fan, this isn't good for the franchise.

Seems likely to be a non-hockey "disagreement".... such as senior management disagreeing with Burke swearing at them and calling them bad names during a heated argument. It seems more likely to be something like that, or something "fishy" (i.e. a scandal), than a disagreement over a proposed trade.
 
If it is due to Burke not wanting to take on Luongo, I wonder if it was due to Burke overvaluing his own players - which has been speculated in the past that he tends to do. Where as others (including the owners) questioned why when it's for an elite goaltender.

Just a thought.

Timing of Burke dismissal very odd. He and all brass were at Marlies game last night in Hamilton. Truth will surface. Something fishy.
 
WOW!!!...this is really unbelievable. I may have been one of his biggest critics but I still don't think he deserved to be let go just yet.

Gonna LOL at all of you guys when we land no FA's because noone wants to come and be a part of this circus act.

Seriously what org fires their GM after a 118 day lockout... the new guy could have been preparing this whole time. Such a farce.
