Imagine this,

Burke fired, screws with the team to the point they get a top 5 pick, Sign a strong drafting GM, Tons of cap space. Totally new team next year.

really shocked by this decision I must say.. I never expected this. The question is does this firing stands only on being bottom 5 team on the last year of his contract ? or is there more to it, like a big change in philosophy from the boards that Burke wouldnt join. Maybe MLSE plans on going through a real rebuild and not just a quick one building a bubble team like Burke does. Anyway, I guess we'll learn more in the next few hours or days.. Right now, personnaly, I'm definitely disappointed.

This never happened.

Acquisition of Lupul and Gardiner, began to hold onto draft picks etc.

There's no denying his tuned changed from the original moves like Kessel.

Its just scary, I'm okay if we bring in a new guy with the leash to rebuild from the start... but not okay if its an interim move for a guy like Nonis... who is just a more spineless version of Burke who MLSE can influence.

I guess its true that Toronto, neither fans nor ownership, apparently, can ever accept a rebuild.

This is not about Burke not wanting to trade for Lou....as he most certainly did as per all the rumors about it was a done deal.....maybe the way the goalie coach was let go and the way he condoned the treatment of him by the coaching staff.....also extending Wilson....may have had something to do with this. Allowing a player to run other players out of town.....all of the above may have added up to see you later.

Do not be surprised if Keenan gets serious consideration.

Burke wasn't perfect here, but he just began to set the team up nicely in regards to players/prospects/cap space, and all of a sudden he's fired. The timing is a complete joke.
