I'd rather him pressure to get the 1st overall pick.
I feel like Edmonton's pick is a more realistic possibility. I'd be happy with any of the top 3 guys if they stay at #3.

He was responsible for the Clarkson signing?Did not know that. Still doesn't invalidate his other accomplishments. Besides, what's wrong with Shanahan? We can't go any lower.
That Clarkson signing was all on Nonis.
I can't believe the story I read where Nonis expected us to take a step back. Not only did he sign Clarkson to the worst contract anyone can imagine, but he also tried to recruit Scuderi, traded a valuable pick for Bolland as well.
Why would a team make all those detrimental moves when they expected to bad?
I'm absolutely baffled and have lost a lot of confidence in Nonis.

I think he meant step back as in... over a full 82 game season we weren't deserving of 5th in the East.
And the expectation was that we'd be in a fight for a WC spot. Thats more or less where we were trending before the season went down the tubes.
If there was one problem with this team, it was not enough hockey executives.
Problem solved!
SUNRISE, Fla. – The first thing you need to know about Brendan Shanahan’s imminent hiring by the Toronto Maple Leafs is that it is the first of many significant changes that will be made to the organization in the coming months.
The second is that Dave Nonis is expected to continue in his role as general manager under Shanahan while maintaining control of hockey decisions, according to those in the know – although Nonis wouldn’t confirm that fact when approached by Sportsnet following Thursday’s Leafs-Panthers game at BB&T Center.
After spending 10 months as president and CEO of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, Tim Leiweke determined that the hockey side of the organization was in need of more leadership. It is believed that he was looking to add a president above Nonis even before the team went into the recent tailspin that saw it plummet out of a playoff spot.
Hey guys,
It seems as though current Toronto Maple Leafs GM dave Nonis will not be fired after all. I was hoping that Brendan Shanahan would decide to fire Nonis and bring in a new GM for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Where all the Tim L doubters at?

A day after Trevor Linden becomes president of hockey operation with the Canucks, Brendan Shanahan one-ups him and become president - period, it looks like - of the Maple Leafs. Why this title, and why this guy?
Bob McKenzie: I think that's the critical thing. Brendan Shanahan was not prepared to leave the NHL's Player Safety department if he was just going to be the president of hockey operations for a club in the NHL. It was important for him to be the president of the whole organization - both the hockey side and the business side. Now, he's expected to officially resign his position with the NHL on Friday, and it's expected that the Leafs will put out a simple press release announcing his appointment of the entire team. It won't be until the beginning of next week that Shanahan will be introduced to the media, once the regular season is over.
What does this mean to GM Dave Nonis and head coach Randy Carlyle?
Darren Dreger: Well it's "to be determined", we're not sure. Shanahan is going to require some time. Dave Nonis was hoping to have some time to review the organization, to speak with Randy Carlyle and ultimately assess what his role might be moving forward. Now, he has a new boss, so Brendan Shanahan is going to want to get to know Nonis a little bit better, find out what his thoughts are on whether or not a coaching change is required, but I don't expect that there will be anything will be done in the near future.
Shanny will be great for Clarkson. Clarkson will have a Bounce back year next season with a new coach and more structure to this team.

President of Hockey Operations
5 or 6 Year Deal
Expected to Resign from NHL job tonight
wrong already..its president ..just president ! Meaning he will be the boss on the hockey and the business side (read on tsn.ca)
Noins is going to take the the heat for another failed season that his mentor created . Burkes accelerated retool left this team flawed and DN didn't have nuts to change the path we were on . Locking up a flawed core and then trying to add to it by signing Clarkson has left this team spinning it's wheels and unless there's some major moves done in the off season we're going to a perennial bubble team for the foreseeable future .
Aaron Ward said that he is close with Peter DeBore.
In DeBore's last 3 years, his teams finished top 10 in Puck possession each year, and top 5 in the last two.
Devil's have also had a terrible roster the last two years.
Good hiring. Guaranteed changes this off season.
Tim Leiweke = Good cop
Shanahan = Bad cop
