Some Jets fans will vastly understate Brendan's development curve this year. He seemed to have an 'a-ha' moment in Finland after he basically derailed the Jets game by taking some stupid penalties. He was scratched for quite a while, and when he got back in, made the most of his opportunity.
Brendan was a very positive contributor to the team these past weeks. I think he's tracking very similarly to his dad Claude career wise. He's an aggressive forechecker, has some hands, and his cycle game was improving. He really limited his penalties - and ended up drawing some too.
You got a good bottom six forward who will probably have decent scoring contribution.

Where does Lemieux rank in terms of the current NY Rangers prospects or is he past that point being he already has 53 NHL Games?

Really excited to see him play. Sounds like a hybrid of Avery and Callahan.

I did too. But I respect the role he played for his teams and his playoff prowess.
If Brendan develops into that AND backs it up to boot he'll be a fan favorite in no time.

I'm interested to see where this goes with Lemieux. Since the early 2000's at least, it seems to me that the best NYR teams have always had a sandpaper player, a genuine agitator on the bottom 6. Matt Barnaby, Sean Avery, Brandon Prust, even Dan Carcillo seemed to make this team play better when they were on the roster. Not every team needs an agitator, it just seems that the Rangers tend to be better when they have one.

Say what you will about McIlrath - the guy can fight as well as anybody.
Far too many times I have watched as people in the Garden seemed uninterested in the game until it was too late. They've needed a guy to get the party started for a while now.

Dylan's actually gotten better at fighting---at least in part because he's physically matured and he's gotten over his clumsiness. Every time this season his AHL team plays against the team that has Brett Gallant those two hook up and have a doozy of a fight and Gallant is a real crap player but he (and his brother Alex too) is about as tough as it comes. IMO McIlrath is a lot more ready to take on Ryan Reaves than he was a few years ago and I wouldn't be surprised to see Dylan get another NHL shot or two to play that Dalton Prout kind of role for some team that thinks it's missing that element.

But anyway back to Lemieux--he's an okay fighter and that's good but the most important thing is that agitating get under skin's physical game not all that unlike his Dad. I think he can/will produce enough where we'll be able to play him on our third line. He's not nearly as good of a player as his dad was---though he's not bad. There are some skills there. He's not a plug.
